A Gay Vacation Guide For Iceland

The majority of travelers that journey to Iceland each year do so to experience its unique, diverse natural beauty that is unlike anything you will find on gay vacations in other countries. From volcanoes and Europe’s largest glacier, to the Northern Lights and the sparsely populated island of Grimsey on the Arctic Circle, Iceland offers unmatched opportunities to experience the outdoors in a whole new way. Kayaking, hiking, rafting, ice climbing, bird watching, whale watching and ocean fishing are all popular activities throughout the country and are ideal for inclusion in adventurous gay tours.
Of course, folks looking for a more urban scene also will enjoy Iceland, particularly the capital city of Reykjavik, where those on individual vacations or gay tours will find a lively nightlife, an abundance of cultural and historical attractions, museums, shopping and dining opportunities, and an expansive waterfront.
Birdwatchers and nature lovers will also want to take a side trip to the small island of Grimsey, just 25 miles to the north. There is just one town on Grimsey, Sandvik, which is the northernmost settlement of Iceland and has a population of 150. The island is best known for the steep cliffs lining its shore and its abundance of bird colonies, both of which are popular draws for folks on gay vacations to Iceland. Lucky visitors might also catch a glimpse of polar bears, which sometimes show up on the shores of Grimsey after drifting on ice from Greenland.
As a fun, additional perk, travelers to Grimsey can pick up a certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle while visiting. For other outdoor adventures, solo travelers and gay tours also flock to the Vatnajokull icecap, which is Europe’s largest glacier and a popular spot for ice climbing. In total, glaciers cover just over 10% of Iceland’s geography, offering a plethora of photo opportunities and opportunities for outdoor activities.
There are also a number of hiking and sightseeing opportunities throughout the country, including breathtaking cliffs, waterfalls, picturesque coastlines and Videy Island, which is just minutes offshore and is home to the oldest stone building in Iceland, as well as many sculptural art pieces.
Depending on which time of year visitors come to Iceland on gay vacations, they will likely be able to experience at least one of the country’s intriguing natural phenomena, including the Northern Lights, Polar Nights and Midnight Sun.
But, regardless of when you choose to plan your gay travel to Iceland, gay vacations are not complete without a dip in the world-famous Blue Lagoon, just 45 minutes outside of Reykjavik, where visitors will find a pool of fluorescent blue, geothermal seawater enclosed by black lava rocks.

The Familiarity Of Gay Tours

Being gay is still conversational in the world we live in today and its acceptance has ebbed and flowed through history. While people like to point backwards to the openness of homosexual culture in ancient Greece, that was over 2,000 years ago and the world has not rushed forward as a whole to embrace a gay lifestyle. While some areas are very welcoming, such as Canada which allows gays to get married there are varying degrees of acceptance in small pockets and arenas – like traveling the world in any number of gay tours.
Around the United States there are many people who have no issue with gays and others who most certainly do and can, unfortunately, incite violence to make their claim. The gray scale acceptance in America is still worlds above some countries, like Iran, in which homosexuals can be sentenced to death.
Is it a choice? Are you born gay? These are the questions that the rest of the world struggles with and that a gay child does not concern themselves with. To be gay is to realize your difference very early one and carry that into puberty. Adolescence is already a time of struggle and reflection that for gay teens, includes having to choose between being in the closet and acting the part of a straight teen or coming out and dealing with reactions that can be either accepting or rejecting.
Coming to terms with sexuality and a place in the world means finding like minded individuals. Technology, thankfully, has stepped forward and given gays a voice and a community. Lesbian Gay and Transgendered (LGBT) groups have come forward to make gayness a safe and normal state of being that is supported and full of love.
Many straight adults never have to think twice about feeling accepted sexually and so it can be underestimated that for a gay person to be around other gay persons, it can be one of the most accepting and transformative experiences. Finding time to be around other gays and having a sense of community does not have to be the exclusive purview of gay clubs. Travel feeds the soul and traveling with other gay people on gay tours can open up the world.
Gay tours also work as a great travel template to know where there are areas in which acceptance is high, bringing the overall anxiety level down. These tours can be centered on cruise ships with varying destinations and a very party boat atmosphere or they can be more focused and smaller, like wildlife tours that let you explore the natural wonders of places like Alaska.
On top of having a wealth of experiences open to you, the travel manifest is also something you can have a say in. You can go on a gay tour with a combination of gays, lesbians, and their friends, or just with gay families, or just with other lesbians, or just with other gay men. Depending on your identity and preference, there is a tour waiting for you.
It is time to experience the world in a loving and accepting environment so that you can concentrate on the act of travel. The world is a huge, diverse, and impressive place so experiencing it on gay vacations with other gay individuals takes a huge psychological burden off of your shoulders.

Gay Travel Deals To Switzerland
April 1, 2010 by Howie Holben
In tourism issues, it was sighted that gay tourist will be a potential market that can bring lots of revenues to the destination market. Let us take those who do gay travel to Switzerland a stand point for this.
Switzerland is considered as one of the most spectacular countries in Europe. Although it may look a small country in the map, it surely possesses remarkable places to explore. No wonder why most tourists decide as to spending their holiday there. What is more surprising is the number of gay tourist also taking those special cruises especially intended for them. Indeed potential for generating revenue, isn’t it? They have that circle bus to depart from Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Prague, Vienna and also Amsterdam. Pricing ranges only under $100.00 up to $3,000.00 and above.
This differs in the kind of accommodation one desires to have during their journey.
Some important landscapes can be seen in Switzerland. Like that Alps covered with snows, those villages in the side of the mountains, the picturesque of real beauty indeed including that pristine valleys. Oh! I think no one can resist its splendor. A trained tour guides who are also gays will clarify tourist about the Swiss culture and will lead them to great places which they craved for seeing.
Gays can already enjoy the journey without judgments with their lifestyles. They can familiarize themselves because they will be travelling with the same gender as them. Try to ask somebody who’s been to different gay travels and their story would be happy ones. Why not read about gay journeys in Switzerland and you will be given options where you will want to go. That tours are actually treated as gay-friendly.
Going back 1970, the subject has been to many debate because others doesn’t accept homosexuals. They are having law conflicts like for marriages and people; in general, don’t see them like normal individuals. But the law for anti-discriminatory justified them. And yet, it does not assure them that all people will look at them with respect. Rejection will be present at times, no one can avoid that. With these society norms, a doubtful image can still be thrown towards the gay population.
As such, they have opted for those gay vacations packages like that in Switzerland. Though this, gays can taste the word holiday rather than mere pronouncing it. What more could be nicer in a tour than being comfortable and to feel that you are safe with the same minded people like you do?
Yes, this is the result for their pursuit of wanting to have their own tours. It gave them the freedom of traveling. They won’t anymore have the complications that they will find the need to hide themselves in the crowd. Cultures about sexuality maybe taboo. Yet, this does not prohibit the individual to enjoy if they wanted to give themselves the delight for vacation. And this, I can assure, that a gay adventure to Switzerland will be such a good idea.

Gay Holidays: Packages In Morocco
March 24, 2010 by Howie Holben

Morocco is a country steeped in myths and legend and offers gay travel opportunities to experience a rich history and culture that continues to strongly influence daily life. Morocco offers visitors the chance to cross the desert atop a camel, sleep in a hotel made of sand and haggle with aggressive spice and rug traders in marketplaces that look and feel like they are from another time in history. In many towns and cities former homes have been transformed into guest lodgings, called riads, that often offer a more welcoming atmosphere for travelers on a gay vacation and provide the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and daily life of Morocco. While there is no visible scene in this conservative Muslim country, there are still abundant reasons for Morocco to be part of your gay travel plans, including ancient ruins and architecture, exceptional beaches, desert landscapes that stretch as far as the eye can see and open air souks (markets) that wind through village streets offering exotic wares.
Any travel experience in Morocco must include exploring the distinct quarters of the Fes medina, taking in the art deco architecture of Casablanca, breathing in the ocean air while watching a spectacular sunrise or sunset in Tangier, and visiting the Dar Si Said Museum in Marrakech. With breathtaking Muslim mosques, snake charmers, street performers, ancient Roman ruins and so much more, a vacation to Morocco gives travelers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the colors, sounds, sights and smells of this unique country.
American and European socialites, writers and composers involved in the jet set scene once flocked to Morocco as a preferred gay vacation destination; however, while Morocco was once known as a liberal playground welcoming gay men and lesbians from around the world for vacations, a push by recent Muslim leadership to move the country back towards the strict moral code of Islam has caused this welcoming atmosphere to change. Although the law is not commonly enforced, homosexuality was deemed a criminal offence in 1962 and remains so today. Same-sex conduct is punishable by fines and between six months to three years in prison.
In a 2009 statement, the Moroccan government asserted that homosexuality will not be tolerated and will be repressed, which means there may be an increase in enforcement and travelers should be particularly aware of their surroundings when in public. Laws and attitudes such as this are common in countries that are primarily Muslim and do not necessarily indicate that Morocco should be avoided when partaking in gay travel.
However it does mean that caution and discretion are advised while visiting this conservative country and that travelers may want to consider visiting Morocco as part of organized gay tours or working with a gay holidays agency that is knowledgeable about the safest locations and lodgings for Morocco vacations.

Wouldn’t it be a wonderful experience to visit ancient civilizations and have a glimpse at the magnificence and mystery of the natural wonders that can be found on our planet? There are many destinations that allow a person to interact with indigenous cultures while tapping into the philosophies of ancient cultures. A person could participate in ceremonies and mediation while visiting sacred sites that also provide the opportunity for sightseeing, adventure and relaxation.
By planning a gay travel vacations or a shorter retreat to one of the many sacred sites that still remain, a person can experience personal insight, personal growth, self-awareness, spirituality and healing. While exploring these sacred sites can lead to an increased spirituality these trips can also be the catalyst for building lifelong friendships with likeminded people.
Perhaps a longer journey would be in order. One of the top gay vacation destinations is the popular Grand Canyon white water rafting trip. This trip is very spiritual and relaxing and also offers the more adventurous travelers many opportunities for hiking and swimming. The trip is guided by canyon experts and all meals and camping gear is provided. Most people that have enjoyed this trip describe this as one of the most spiritual experiences they have ever had.
Another spectacular destination that fits well into gay travel planning that is both spiritually fulfilling and fun is a trip to Egypt. Just imagine being able to view the ancient Pyramids or cruise down the Nile River. A person could have the opportunity to view King Tut’s burial mask at the Cairo Egyptian Museum or stand in front of the ancient Sphinx. Travelers that have visited these ancient sites have reported life changing spiritual experiences.
While it would be possible to plan a wonderful vacation on your own it may be a good idea to consider booking gay tours with a company that specializes in gay travel. You can enjoy the luxury of visiting poplar vacation destinations or a spiritual retreat while making lifelong friends of likeminded individuals.
Some gay adventure travel deals involve exploring ancient cultures. A pilgrimage is often the name given to this kind of travel. On a pilgrimage, the traveler learns the old traditions from the people and places visited. But it is not all serious, there is lots of time to relax and just sightsee.
Sacred places have held an attraction for millions of people since the dawn of time. This attraction is because these places are known for the healing of mind and body. They will continue to be honored and visited because they provide a way to learn about the old ways and can lead to personal healing and growth.

Gay Tour Sites In Mongolia
March 20, 2010 by Howie Holben

Although there is not much of a gay scene throughout Mongolia, its beautiful landscapes and unique culture prove gay tours to this wonderful place can be special. Homosexual acts were declared legal in 2002, but naivete about homosexuality still persists and gay travel to Mongolia is a good idea for your next vacation.
Mongolia is sparsely populated, leaving plenty of room for the beautiful lakes, majestic mountains and flowing rivers for which the country is often known. Mongolia boasts a unique history as the Mongols and Genghis Khan once ruled powerfully, only for the country to later fall under Soviet grasps.
Despite having little in the way of gay establishments, the unique history and culture of Mongolia make it a worthwhile destination for gay travelers.
With an international airport and train station welcoming overland travel from China, the capital city of Ulaanbaatar serves as the best starting point for your Mongolia adventures. With low priced guesthouses doubling as travel coordinators, it is the best place to settle in and plan for your visit to the country.
Guesthouses are the best place to stay as they offer cheap accommodation (roughly twenty U. S. Dollars per night) and also act as travel agencies that can help you to draw up an itinerary.
From there, the options are plentiful. For shorter stays, consider a local home stay near Terelj National Park, just two hours from the capital and an easy ride to the Gobi Desert. You might also want to think about a trip to Genghis Khan’s ancient capital or adding a week to head north for spectacular lake, mountain and river excursions.
Longer stays are better for incorporating all parts of the country, including the north where majestic mountains and pristine lakes are abundant.
Aside from outdoor and wildlife excursions, city life is also worth exploring. Ulaanbaatar is home to good and inexpensive restaurants like Mongol Shabu, where you can eat well for under five dollars. You can also check out the world renowned Mongolian National Symphony Orchestra at The Culture Show or visit the Natural History Museum.
Those going to Mongolia as one of your gay vacations should not feel uncomfortable, despite homosexuality being relatively under the radar countrywide. This is not typically considered a result of conservativeness, but a relative lack of information about gay culture and context.
Planning your own vacation may be great for independent travelers, but tour groups catering to gay travelers also offer structured excursions that visit a wide variety of Mongolia’s most popular sites.
Typically they served as a way to see the “best of” the country and highlights include the Gobi Desert, ancient capital of Kharakorum, local camel farms and the Terelj National Park. With various activities like horseback riding along the Mongolian Steppe and cultural activities like traditional Naadam festivals, they appeal to all types of travelers.
These groups typically incorporate some LGBT excursions to community groups and whatever gay adventure travel may exist. With a wide range of activities, their itineraries make up for a lack of a gay scene by offering something for everybody.
