See The Fat Just Melt Away When You Visualize Weight Loss!

It sounds far fetched, but it is true. People can improve many conditions, including being overweight, by using visualization techniques. The way this works is to first create a mental image of exactly how you want to look. Next do everything you can to make this image as real as it can be. Tying emotions to the image will make it much stronger. You can do this by concentrating on how you are going to feel when you actually do look like the image. You need to focus your mind on the emotions and make yourself feel like the image is real.

Creating life changes by visualization has become much more acceptable in recent years. Visualization helps us to create an accepted picture in our minds of our leaner and fitter bodies. If we really believe that this is the way we should look, our subconscious mind goes to work to make it happen. If fact whether you believe that visualization works or not, we all use the mental technique constantly.

An example would be people who are dieting but really believe that they cannot lose weight. Sometimes you will hear people make the statement that they cannot lose weight. You know at that point that, since they really don’t believe they can lose weight, they have very little hope of being successful at their diet. A person who believes it is impossible to lose weight cannot accept successful weight loss. If somehow they do lose a few pounds, their subconscious mind will work to get them right back, so that reality will again reflect what the person believes. Without realizing it, these people have programmed their minds to make sure they never succeed in losing weight! In fact, the ONLY way these people could ever possibly lose weight and keep it off is to use Visualization techniques to change their beliefs about weight loss!

Now here is the big secret to visualization. Psychologists have known something about the human mind for years: it cannot hold conflicting beliefs at the same time. For instance, you cannot believe that you are an excellent speaker and a terrible speaker at the same time. Research has also shown that, when things happen that go against what a person believes, it creates internal conflict. Using our speaker example, if you knew I mean absolutely KNEW you were a terrible speaker but you got up and gave a terrific speech, you would feel conflict inside. Your mind would actually work to minimize your accomplishment. You may have even heard people that have given good speeches say, afterwords, that they really are not very good at public speaking.

So the secret is this: if you use visualization techniques to make your mind really believe that you are thin, the mind goes into conflict when evidence is presented to the contrary. Your mind must either remove or resolve the conflict. If you have convinced yourself that you are thin but you are reaching for an ice cream cone, your mind sees the conflict coming and will work to avoid it! You may just hear yourself saying something like “Ice cream makes me feel bloated. No thanks.” It is just like the good speaker denying that they speak well, only in reverse!

If you’re plagued by negativity either from your own mind or from the reactions of friends and family to your diet plan, go ahead and visualize yourself at your desired weight as often as you are able to. How can it hurt? If you have already tried everything else the only thing you stand to lose is your extra weight! You need to create a strong enough positive visualization to counteract these negative influences and give you a very clear vision of yourself at your ideal weight.

Practice doing your visualizations several times each day, really during every spare moment you have. Losing weight is important and you need to make the effort to break out of the negative cycle you are in. When you have an extra few minutes find a quiet place to practice making your image more and more vivid and more emotional. Now this is easy for some people, but most of us have to practice quite a bit to get it right. One good technique is to find a photograph of yourself from the past when you were at your target weight and focus on that. If you don’t have a photo, just cut a photo of a magazine of someone at your ideal weight and paste a picture of your face onto it. Use any technique you can think of to help make your vision more vivid and real.

As you go about your daily chores, think of yourself as already at your ideal weight. Create affirmation statements and repeat them typically, usually within the present tense (“I am glad to be slim and at my ideal weight” , not “I am going to …”). Enjoy the feeling of having a positive self-image. Over time, this will help you to keep for your fat loss plan. You will find that fatty foods are less attractive and exercises are a lot more enjoyable. While your fat loss will of course be gradual, there is no doubt that this technique will work. In fact, if you get yourself to the point you really, truly believe you are thin your subconscious mind will make it impossible for you NOT to lose weight!
