Protein is present in every cell in the body and makes you strong and healthy. It is essential for the development and repair of muscles, bones, skin, ligaments, hair, eyes and other tissues. It helps the body create antibodies that repel diseases. Children need protein to reach their full potential. Protein intake is likewise advised following surgery to heal wounds and rebuild the body. Without protein, you’ll miss out on the enzymes and hormones required for metabolism and digestion.
Protein travels throughout the body in the blood as hormones, red blood cells and enzymes. It is the only food source of nitrogen that is made of chains of amino acid. Of the 22 amino acids, eight are essential while the rest are nonessential. Essential amino acids come from food. The nonessential amino acids, on the other hand, do not have to be eaten since the body makes them.
There are two types of protein: complete or incomplete protein. Complete proteins come from animal products like chicken, fish and dairy products. They have all the essential amino acids that the body needs. In contrast, incomplete proteins come from plants like grains, nuts, beans and vegetables. They have a limited number of amino acids and must be eaten in vast amounts to get the full benefits of protein.
You can also mix incomplete and complete proteins to make them better. This is done by combining rice and beans, bread and cheese or cereal and milk. But you don’t have to eat these combinations at the same time though. A lot of cultures have created combinations that work well like corn and beans in Mexico or rice and split peas in India.
Next to meat, legumes like beans, peas and peanuts are good sources of protein. But because they are incomplete proteins, they must be mixed with other plant foods for your benefit. Try to make sure you are getting a full and complete diet each day. If you are not sure how to accomplish this, consider a meal delivery program for you and your family.

Proteins exist in all the organisms. The cells need proteins to carry out all its functions. Amino acids form these proteins which are organic compounds. The process of formation of protein is carried out in the stomach when food is broken down and digested. The metabolic activity in the body requires proteins. Calories, which we know as the energy, are produced from protein, fat and carbohydrates from the food that we take. Dairy products in various forms including cheese and milk, eggs, nuts, legumes and meat are the main source of proteins. The food particles are broken down in the stomach continuously from which proteins are derived. The proteins are broken down through digestion by enzymes. The estimated requirement of protein of women are said to be lesser than men. While the men require 56 grams of protein per day, the women require 46 grams of protein per day. When the intake of protein is lower than the required intake, protein deficiency sets in.
Protein deficiency causes a number of health problems and may prove to be fatal. Kwashiorkor is a protein deficiency disease. It expresses itself with symptoms as diarrhea, apathy, fatty liver, failure to grow, edema of the legs and belly, flaky skin, and inactivity. Mental retardation is also known to be caused by protein deficiency. Poor people who face chronic hunger and nutritional deficiency are known to be the most susceptible. Those who are dieting and are on crash diet for weight loss also may face protein deficiency at times. Older people could develop protein deficiency when they do not have a balanced diet. A similar situation might also occur in people who are recovering from surgery, trauma or illness. The deficiency can be offset by the intake of protein rich food or special diet.
There are a variety of dietary supplements in the market containing carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins. The source of protein is often soy, casein or whey. Flavors are added to make them tasty. These dietary supplements are available as energy drinks or energy bars. Energy bars offering primarily proteins are also available. Pure Protein Bars are also available in the market. These have more protein than other ingredients. Protein bars come in a variety of mouth watering flavors.
They give not only the added calories but also more protein. This ensures that you not only get the fuel, but more protein finds its way into your body.
Our bodies require protein. So, it is a must that we eat foods that also gives protein to our bodies.

Protein, carbohydrates and fat are critical for bodybuilding. Meats, dairy products, nuts, eggs, legumes and grains are the common dietary source of protein. It is estimated that an adult female requires 46 grams of protein per day while adult males require 56 grams of protein per day to avoid a deficiency. This difference is due to the general difference in weight between them and male body has generally more weight mass than females.
Protein from the tissues is broken down continuously. Maintaining good health requires the consumption of adequate protein. When the protein intake is less than what is required, the protein in the muscle mass is broken down to meet energy needs. This will result in the wasting away of muscles. Higher level of physical activity demands higher intake of protein. That is why bodybuilders are required to consume more protein than others.
Higher intake of protein as well as carbohydrates and fat is essential for bodybuilders. Micro tears in the muscles result from weight training and intense physical exercise. This need to be repaired with additional food energy. It also requires adequate rest. The actual building of muscles takes place during this. The additional food energy is provided to the body by the intake of special diet supplements or food supplements. There are a variety of products in the market that fulfills this demand such as Ny-Tro Pro-40, BSN No-Xplode, BSN Cell Mass, BSN Syntha-6 and Purple Wraath. Before deciding on the product it is advisable that the genuineness of the products and their claims are checked out.
Generally, there are no problems related to excessive intake of protein. The reason is that this protein more than what the body needs are neither stored nor retained. Widespread protein deficiency is the major cause of death and illness in the developing countries. Malnutrition due to poverty is the main cause of protein deficiency. Diseases such as mental retardation and kwashiorkor occur as a result. There is protein deficiency in the developed countries too even though this is not common. Protein deficiency occurs amongst people who are recovering from surgery, illness or trauma. It can also result from poor diet, crash diet for losing weight. Get Rid Of Your Excess Body Fat With Fat Burning Supplements

Everyone is talking about the foods that reverse the calories and fight fat. There is loads of information available on the Internet, on television and in your mail about people who have become thin in a short period of time by just eating these food supplements. The advertisements are designed to tap into your need to look good and at the same time offers a cure which is effortless. Most of the ads carry before and after pictures of men and women, we are likely to meet on the street, exhibiting their recently acquired toned bodies. Though one questions the veracity of these statements, there is always the niggling doubt that it could be true. So how does one verify these claims?
Nowadays people look for instant solutions to their problems and so fall easy prey to these supplements that provide instant cure like the travelling salesmen of the previous generation, who sold magic potions for everything from growing hair on a bald pate to laziness.
You can save yourself a lot of money, if you care to study about body fat. You will then understand how this works and what you can do about it, rationally.
Fat contained in the food gets stored in the body as energy and an excess of this becomes fat unless this energy is used up by the body. Your body begins to store this excess body fat in primary areas starting with the stomach, legs, arms and buttocks. It gets distributed in these areas and once these areas get full up, it starts to store it, dangerously, in the secondary areas like the organs. Once these areas are also full, it goes back to storing in the stomach area and the cycle continues.
So you have to decide what the fat fighters will do for you. The marketing of these supplements is based on a variety of claims. Some of them are said to be nourishing while others cut your hunger pangs? Some others give you vim or resilience?
Don’t get taken in by advertisements that tell you that you can eat just about anything and yet lose weight by taking the fat burner supplements. No fat reducers can do this, not even the herbal or natural ones. Exercise caution with the herbals or naturals since some of them can have a contrarian effect on your body. Study the product carefully; look for side effects, if any, before you choose to buy one. It is better to be safe than sorry.
One cardinal rule: Fat reducer supplements are no magic wand. There is no substitute for a proper diet and exercise. Remember – no pain, no gain. You may combine the fat reducing supplements with a healthy diet and good exercise to be effective. Should you decide to do away with the fat reducing supplements, try to find a fat burning guide online? These give you structured instructions on how to reduce body fat. They are safer, more effective and you save a lot of money.

Fat Loss! Stop and Think for a Second.

It is a known fact that 3500 calories is a pound of body weight and to lose one pound, you must reduce your intake of calories by 3,500. Given that information, if you want to lose five pounds in one week, you must reduce your calories by 17,500!
We are all aware that an average diet is about 2000 calories per day. That’s only 14 thousand calories per week. That’s average! That’s what keeps you healthy. If you are going to diet off five pounds which is seventeen thousand five hundred calories, you have to burn 3500 more calories than you eat for the entire week, or go totally without food PLUS burn 3500 calories in one week. That just won’t work. You can’t lose five pounds in one week by dieting. You have to have some food to stay alive.
So if you eliminate food, you’re in for a rough ride. Your body has this involuntary reaction which we refer to as hibernation, in bears. As good a name as any in people, but we usually call it metabolism. When the food stops coming in, your metabolism picks up on it and starts burning protein, which is your lean muscle. It’s 75% water, and is your first line of weight loss. You lose your water. You ever see body builders with their protein drinks and protein bars and protein powder? Lots of muscle there, isn’t there? But the next thing that your metabolism does is worse. It starts to burn carbohydrates, which means that your fat increases. You start to put more weight on!
Since you can’t diet off the weight then it stands to reason that you have to work on increasing your burn rate. Normally a diet gets you to take in fewer calories and what you burn slowly reduces your size. Actually, you are just losing water, and because 75% of your lean muscle protein is water, pretty soon you start to gain again. You are in hibernation. Your body has made a choice. Give up the protein, live off the carbs, and store as much fat as possible. Any food you take in is converted immediately to fat to help you through this period of starvation. Remember, a bear can sleep though an entire winter without eating.
One thing is for sure: Body Builders are mostly protein, and very little fat. They don’t eat a lot of Big Macs and Whoppers. They have a totally different diet with protein drinks and bars and shakes. They couple that with some simple exercises, and they control their metabolisms. If you like that sort of look, they are usually pretty hot, yet they eat like there won’t be food tomorrow. You have to control the burn rate, not the caloric intake.
By now you must understand that you can’t just diet and make fat go away, so you have to make a choice, a complete lifestyle choice. You want to lose weight? Start with a little exercise to get your metabolism kicked up. THEN start your diet. After that you increase your exercise. By starting after you have increased your metabolism, the whole thing will be more effective, and the pounds will come off faster and more easily. The lifestyle change is more likely to be permanent.
Understand that you put your weight on because you don’t burn everything that you eat. You store some of it, and over time, that weight builds up. Problem is, storage is driven by what you eat and that consumption is mostly about water. Protein is 75% water. When you go on a diet, after you clear out the water you burn protein from your storehouse.
You can’t just diet fat off because your body will give away all of it’s protein to protect itself, so you start to live on carbohydrates- and gain weight. When you lower your food intake, you lose protein, and this loss lowers your burn rate.
