Information About Chiropractic Care For Anyone Who Doesn’t Want To Shrink Three Inches And End Up A Hunchback!

Did you know the average human (man & woman) shrinks up to three inches over the course of their life? It’s true. Chiropractors in San Diego are revealing this phenomenon. You can begin losing height slowly some time in your late twenties, and then, the process accelerates as you age. So, if you are in your thirties you are shrinking right now! And the worst part is that some shrink more and quicker than others. The results can be a devastating “hunchback” appearance, limited mobility and constant pain. The good news is that there are simple and easy things you can do right now to minimize the aging and shrinking process to make sure you stay strong and tall and don’t end up looking like the hunchback of Notre Dame!
Although there are several factors that lead to shrinking, the one that has by far the biggest impact on shrinkage is your spine. This is because the discs have several important functions. First, they help to keep the vertebrae together. The discs also act like a shock absorber, allowing the spine to compress and rebound when stress is applied to the spinal column. It acts as a sort of spring. The discs also maintain proper spacing between the bones. Proper spacing is needed so each bone can move completely without restriction. This space allows nerves to pass through their opening without getting pinched and altered. What does all this have to do with you shrinkage? The disc is like a week old jelly donut that can easily be ruined. It has a tough outer layer and a soft, jelly-like center. That center is normally over 85% water. Your disc makes up 33% of the height of your entire spine. So, if your disc somehow loses water, dries out so-to-speak, you lose height! And in some cases it can be a few inches.
Your spinal discs only have one way to keep their fluid content. This is through a process known as imbibition. It is also through proper motion and fluidity. Proper motion serves as a natural pump that brings fluid and other nutrition in and out of the disc through the process of imbibition. As soon as that motion is stopped, the disc begins to reduce in size and die in the process. If your spinal bones misalign or malfunction, the spinal discs cannot move through their normal range of motion causing its fluid content to be lost and the disc height to decrease. This misalignment is referred to as a subluxation.
And here’s an amazing fact that you need to understand. An estimated two inches of vertical height of the spine may be lost if the water content of the discs are lowered by only sixteen percent or more! What’s worse is that his sets off a vicious cycle of spinal and body degeneration. As your disc shrinks, it compresses joints and causes inflammation or swelling due to friction in the area. Swelling and more friction reduce mobility even more in the long run. As more motion is lost, the disc loses more fluid, shrinking even more, causing compression and the cycle keeps going and going until your spinal discs look like a slice of pepperoni on a pizza! What’s more, your spine can even become deformed, making it more difficult to maintain balance and upright posture. That’s one reason you see people with terrible looking hunchbacks or using a walker to stay somewhat upright. During this process, nerves can get pinched and compressed. This can cause severe pain and other chronic health problems.
That was a lot of dreadful news. But there is good quality news: Chiropractic adjustments combined with rehabilitation procedures and proper nutritional can restore proper motion to malfunctioning spinal segments. This will decrease friction and swelling, and allow fluid back into the disc. This in turn will stop the vicious cycle of pain, degeneration and reduce in height! Even though you can’t completely end the aging process in your spine, you can seriously slow it down. This reduces the amount of height you lose and all the chronic pain and health problems that go along with the problem. How do you guard your spine? This can be done by simply going to your doctor of chiropractic and having your spine routinely checked for misalignments. Misalignments are known as subluxations. Through quick and easy chiropractic methods, it can determined if you have a problem that can cause spinal degeneration and all the problems that come along with it if a subluxation is found. Proper steps can be taken to correct it before serious and permanent damage is done.
You need to ask yourself a question. Does it make more sense to routinely see your dentist for check-ups for your teeth even though your teeth don’t hurt or, should you wait until your teeth are in pain and falling out? I don’t know how you answered that question, but I think it makes more sense to see my Dentist prior to waking up in agonizing pain and needing a root canal. It does make sense to come see a chiropractor prior to being in agonizing pain. By that time, it may be too late and your only option may be surgery. The worst thing is that waiting until you are in pain means damage has already been done. Some damage can be corrected, but some cannot. Over time, this damage adds up. This leads to problems and pain that may not be able to be corrected.
I’m sure you heard the phrase an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Backpack In Some Schoolchildren May Cause Increasing Back Pain
June 30, 2010 by Dr. Michael Pritsker, DC

Local chiropractors in San Diego are saying that there is an increasing number of evidence suggesting that carrying heavy backpacks may lead to low back pain in children and adolescents. The exact reason for this remains unclear. Some scientists have theorized that a backpack filled with books, supplies and other school supplies places an immense amount of stress on a child’s spine. This results in sporadic, sometimes forceful pain. Few studies, however, have examined the way children sport backpacks and what effect carrying a pack in an irregular fashion can have on a child’s spinal column.
In a cross-sectional study, investigators in Greece examined 1,252 children ages 12 to 18 who used backpacks at school. Each child was asked a series of questions about back pain while carrying their backpack to and from school and during holiday periods, along with questions about participation in sports, how they traveled to/from school, and the amount of time it took them to travel from home to school and back. In addition, the children were asked whether they carried their backpacks with one strap over one shoulder (asymmetrically) or straps over both shoulders (symmetrically), and why they carried their backpacks a particular way. Finally, the students were subjected to a series of spinal measurements both without their backpacks and while wearing their backpacks symmetrically or asymmetrically.
The study had some very stunning results. The following are just some of the findings that came from this study. Symmetrical backpack carrying caused a forward lean in the upper trunk of students and decreased cervical lordosis. Asymmetrical backpack carrying, meanwhile, resulted in students raising the backpack-bearing shoulder and shifting the upper trunk contralaterally. On average, girls were 5.6 times more likely to report suffering from dorsal pain than boys during the school period. No association between gender and low back pain was noted. Students who carried backpacks asymmetrically were 2.9 times more likely to suffer from dorsal pain, and five times as likely to suffer from low back pain, as students who wore backpacks symmetrically. Students who carried backpacks on one side more than the other were more than four times as likely to suffer from high-intensity pain as students who carried backpacks symmetrically.
While there was no correlation between time spent carrying backpacks and back pain during the school period, there was a noteworthy association between time spent to school and back pain during holiday periods. The authors credited this to a possible deferred response to the stress applied to the spinal column during school.
Even though the incidence of low back pain in schoolchildren varies from country to country, several studies have exemplified that it can range from twenty percent to more than fifty percent in some populations. Other studies have also shown that back pain at an early age may contribute to an individual experiencing pain later on in life as an adult. As a result of the findings, the importance of proper backpack use, especially among school children, should not be underestimated in its regard.

Chiropractic Research Uncovers The Missing Link To A Vibrant, Energetic, Pain-Free Life?

Anti-aging is one of the biggest topics today. Baby boomers have finally reached “that age” where things start to change. And if you didn’t take care of what you had, things start to fall apart. Everybody is looking for that wonder potion or pill that will smooth out their wrinkles, flatten out their bulging belly, erase all those aches and pains and give them back the energy and health they once had in their youth.
Diseases are at all time high. These include diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Yet the answers are limited. It seems like every week you can see a new infomercial talking about the wonders of some new fountain-of-youth miracle. Supposedly they can cure anything from acne to Ebola. There was an infomercial where some guy claims his product which is a form of calcium cures everything and everything. Anyone claiming to have the cure for everything usually has the cure for nothing at all.
There are heated debates within the medical community whether there are any legitimate products or not. Some doctors say yes, some say no. What’s scary is a lot of men are going the pharmaceutical route, lining up for shots of potent drugs such as human growth hormone and testosterone with the hopes of boosting energy and fighting disease. Didn’t we learn our lesson giving hormone injections to women for menopause? If you don’t know, hormone injections in women have been found to increase breast cancer, strokes and cause other health problems they were supposed to help. Researchers say the benefits outweigh the risks.
There are things you can do to slow down the aging process, increase energy, and relieve aches and pain. There are ways you can live a healthier life. It is important to understand this is not a magic pill or cream. This is not a secret supplement to cure all. And of course this is not an overnight quick fix. This is a real solution that takes a little time and commitment. If you still believe in the fairytale that you can abuse your body for decades and some carnival barking salesman on late night television than this is definitely not for you.
There are a few things that you must understand. There is no such thing as anti-aging. Don’t get disappointed by it. We have a certain condition present in our bodies that saps our energy, causes premature breakdown of tissue, degeneration and even disease. Most of us are aging at a greatly exaggerated pace. Once this condition is corrected, it is like you take a 10-ton weight off your shoulders. Your body starts functioning the way it should and you can feel and look much younger. And the best part is, you’ll be much healthier and age much slower than before.
So what is this condition? It is postural imbalance and it can cause many problems. Your spine has natural curves that can be lost over time. This can be due to trauma such as car accidents or sports, or long term bad posture. When these natural curves are lost, your whole body is affected. Muscles and ligaments are continually strained causing ache and chronic fatigue. Discs and bones deteriorate. And your central nervous system, that controls each function in your body, becomes compromised which may lead to many systemic health problems. This causes chief health problems.
There are many health problems associated with a postural imbalance besides back pain, neck pain, headaches and carpal tunnel. One of the major ones is chronic fatigue. Since your body is constantly using energy to fight your postural imbalance, you can run out of energy and feel exhausted. When you constantly have to use all your energy to fight bad posture, your body breaks down and you get sick. This constant stress also causes tissue break down such as arthritis and causes you to look and feel much older than you should. Fortunately, there is a solution.
The solution is simply to get your postural imbalances fixed. The best way to get them fixed is through a complete chiropractic postural examination and treatment. Remember what the research said, “Minimization of altered postural/structural loading of the human frame may take longer than resolution, or maximal reduction, of offensive symptoms. By itself, a patient’s perception of pain is not a valid indicator of health.” This means that it is not a quick fix, it is a complete correction. You will need care even after your symptoms are gone and you may need care right now even if you have no symptoms at all. Correcting postural imbalances can take time and the only way to tell that they are corrected is through routine chiropractic evaluations.
If you just patch up your symptoms, they will always come back and you will not reap the true health benefits of chiropractic care. The best way to utilize chiropractic care is for the complete correction of spinal and postural imbalances and not just to patch up your symptoms.

Carpal Tunnel Gloves and the Path to Relief
May 6, 2010 by Tom Nicholson

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a medical condition that millions of people suffer from every day, and it causes them to have to live with agonizing, excruciating pain. It is a common condition among people whose careers or hobbies require daily use of their hands over extended periods of time. Not long ago the only treatments for this debilitating condition involved steroid injections, surgery or large, bulky arm braces that hindered the use of the hands and wrists when worn. Thankfully, now the situation is different. The carpal tunnel gloves that are now available can provide a tremendous level of relief for painful hands and wrists, while not restricting hand and wrist mobility.
Carpal tunnel gloves are very different from those awkward braces that used to be worn by carpal tunnel sufferers. They actually are as thin and easy to wear as an everyday, ordinary bandage. You can wear them while you are asleep and be able to continue your normal daily routine when you awake. They can be worn for extended periods and are easy to put on. All you need to do is place them on the backs of your hands and wrap the thin straps snugly around your hands so they meet at the heel and palm. You will notice the numbness and pain caused by your Carpal Tunnel Syndrome melting away within just a few minutes.
Carpal tunnel gloves relieve the symptoms of this condition because they apply gentle pressure on the tissues around the carpal tunnels in your hands. The pressure works by gently stretching the knotted up tissues caused by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. By doing this while you sleep, the gloves can prevent daytime carpal tunnel pain. The treatment is completely without risk and can help end the suffering of people with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome by reducing the stiffness, pain, numbness and burning in their hands, wrists and fingers.
In addition to being effective pain relievers, carpal tunnel gloves have another appealing characteristic. There is no medication to take whatsoever, and you do not need to apply any messy creams, ointments or lotions to your wrists and hands. Simply put the gloves on every night before you go to bed. They work on stopping your pain and discomfort while you are sleeping peacefully. You will be amazed at how much better your hands, fingers and wrists feel when you wake up every day. These gloves let you pursue your normal daily routine with virtually no carpal tunnel pain.
If you have been suffering from the excruciating pain and burning from carpal tunnel, you may want to think twice before getting painful steroid shots or even having expensive, time consuming surgery performed. You may find that wearing the carpal tunnel gloves every night gives you just as much relief from the pain and numbness of carpal tunnel. This can be an easy way to regain your ability to use your hands and have complete mobility of your lower arms and wrists again. It may help you avoid expensive medical bills, as well as, extended time off from work due to recovering from carpal tunnel surgery. The convenience of using carpal tunnel gloves can make dealing with carpal tunnel pain much more manageable without costing a fortune.

Is Lower Back Pain Preventing You From Getting In Shape?
April 29, 2010 by Katherine Crawford, M.S.

Lower back pain is the number one complaint in the western world. And to lose weight at the fastest rate possible, you need a healthy lower back in order to do compound movements.
So here is how to make sure lower back pain doesn’t retard your weight loss:
1. Support your lower back all the time: The easiest way to do this is to simply purchase lower back supports and install them in every single thing that you sit in. They are extremely cheap and will support your lower back with no effort on your part.
2. Don’t pick things up early in the morning: And exercise right upon waking is contraindicated as well. So make sure you give yourself at least sixty minutes upon waking before you exercise. You see, your discs are more susceptible to injury upon rising.
3. Focus on stabilizers, not movers: Your lower back has muscles that help with stabilization and muscles that help with movement. If you focus on the movers (i.e., crunches) and neglect the stabilizers, your lower back will remain unstable.
4. Avoid all pain: A little discomfort is ok, but pain is never warranted with lower back issues. You need to avoid all instigators no matter what. If you don’t, you will make things worse and can potentially exacerbate your lower back problem beyond repair.
5. Use alternative methods of support: In other words, when you lift something from a lower level, use your free arm and/or legs to help you. Don’t let your lower back absorb all the weight. This is a great technique for further accelerating recovery.
6. Don’t become dependent on temporary quick fixes: For instance, make sure you don’t rely on alternative practitioners for lower back relief. Use them to get you out of painful situations, but make sure the core of your focus in on strengthening the stabilizers in your lower back.
Ameliorating lower back pain can take time, it won’t happen overnight. So make sure you approach this with patience. And take action on this information now, not later!

Some people are just GM to be a little shorter than their peers. It’s fine to be short, but if you’d like to raise self-confidence and a little oomph to your prominence, a few inches more wouldn’t hurt.Being tall also is a big thing when it comes to hitting it off with girls.
Here are beneficial pointers on how to grow taller a few inches :
1. Practice the practice of drinking a glassful of milk daily. Make it 3 glasses if you will. But make sure you don’t drink all 3 glasses at once . Too much milk in your system at a given time would somehow hamper the absorption of vitamins and minerals into your body. When window shopping, select brands that in particular asserts something about natural growth in the label.
2. Line up an appointment with a nutritionist. A licensed one is taught to appraise the expansion disposition of different folks dependent on their age and physical structure. He is going to know precisely what multi-vitamin you must take to speed up the method.
3. Don’t take sleep for granted. It is something that the body requires in order to sustain natural expansion. 8 hours of sleep must noted by adults while ten hours is advised for kids and youths. For a cosy sleep, make sure your door is closed and that there isn’t any irritating derangement that might doubtless rouse you in the middle of your sleep.
4. Exercise a lot. Only when your muscles and bones are stretched do you have even the remotest tendency to grow. If you’re bored by casual stretching exercises, go play basketball or volleyball and jump around as much as possible. Jumping is a good type of stretching, allowing the upward velocity and the downward gravity rather pull apart the joints and tendons of your body in order to facilitate expansion.

People who spend the better part of the day sitting at their desks while doing paperwork or typing away at the computer are often advised to stretch, stand up and walk a bit. However, sometimes, hectic schedules and bulky workloads can make people forget, and their back often suffer the consequences. Most people suffer from stress and job-related back pain, which they unfortunately enjoy as they go through another day of back-stressing work. This is where back support cushions comes in.
Back pain can mean pain throughout the back, or could simply refer to pain in the neck, upper back, lower back or tailbone. This pain is often caused by wrong posture or sitting down for long periods. If wrong posture is uncorrected, it could lead to chronic back pain, which can manifest itself through either a burning sensation, a dull ache or sharp pain.
This is where back support cushions comes in. They aim to sooth your strained muscles and provide support and comfort to the lumbar region. It is made from foam which molds itself to your back to distribute your weight effectively and provide extra comfort. Some of these cushions also comes with a built-in massager.
The cushions can also inadvertedly correct one’s posture over time. Back support cushions are made of from which will mold itself to the contours of your back, and spine. They are ideal for people who are suffering from scoliosis or have indifferent spinal formations. The back support cushion is simply positioned on a person’s chair as it supports all kinds of builds and sizes.
Even though exercise, correct posture and constant movement is still the perfect way to get rid of back pain, relief pain and improve productivity, back support cushions still play a helpful part, especially for those with a tight schedule and literally no time for exercise. It does great at guiding a person to achieve perfect posture and prevent back pain, while offering extra comfort.
