While you embark on establishing a nice fitness routine to do at home, you may feel a bit annoyed at the thought of purchasing your own personal set of resistance bands, and any other fitness equipment that will take up your space (and your wallet). Indeed, that is what the real gyms outside are for!

However, what if you considered the opportunity of not requiring any equipment whatsoever for exercising at home?

In this case, however, I may be only directing this fitness idea to the ladies. I understand there are plenty of guys reading this that will disagree and “stick to their guns” about building muscle.

Is it only our Western culture that places a much higher emphasis on physical fitness and the appearance that it gives than on how it affects us internally? Is it just us that cares a lot more on how to tear up those muscle fibers so that we’ll have a smoking hot body?

Focusing on the outside appearance first before focusing on the inner workings of the inside seems so backwards, don’t you think? At least, it seems like such a huge disconnect.

If all we are doing is lifting weights so that we appear to be strong and healthy, what happens to everything else on the inside that allows us to breathe and function properly? There should be a way to achieve both halves of our bodily equation in one swoop. After all, we only have one body.

I love yoga because my breathing in and out of my lungs affects the ability for me to do easy and difficult poses alike. It makes a world of a difference in helping me stretch out the stress areas I had no idea I had. The focus that yoga requires in the mind and organs gives way to such an opportunity for strength-building in the rest of the body.

Regardless of how big your garage floor is, or how much natural light you can get through your bedroom windows, the efficiency of yoga is that you never need to make any movements off of the borders of the yoga mat.
