Learning The Martial Arts Forms Art By Art

The kebons are good, basic kata taught in both karate styles and taekwondo styles. Though there are three to five of these introductory patterns, I don’t usually count them as forms because they are actually the ABCs of the martial arts.
The next batch of kata to study would be the Taeguks as taught in Tae kwon do. These are basic patterns, more advanced than the kebons, but not as advanced as the Japanese Heians (Pinans). Though they take a few moves from the Heian forms, they serve them up as straight hand to hand techniques, no secret throws or weapons disarms, and no real generation of intrinsic energy.
After the taeguk patterns one should learn the Pinan forms from the Shotokan system, the Kyokushinkai system, and other Japanese martial styles. The Pinan kata are actually designed more for weapons defenses, though not many people know this. The idea here is that one learns the Taeguks for hand to hand combat, then moves into the Pinans for a basic understanding of weapons defenses, and the beginnings of chi eneergy generation.
After the Pinans I recommend the three forms from Pan Gai Noon, which is the base art of Uechi ryu Karate, and which are actually three extremely hard core kung fu forms. These three forms are sanchin, seisan, and sanseirui, though sanseirui is considered more of a show form. These three unique kata are specifically designed to generate internal energy.
Sanchin is designed to teach a student to bolt the motor down to the ground. There are not a lot of moves in it, but the moves are geometrically unique and perfectly designed for adapting hard energy to excellent self defense moves.
Sanchin may be the power form, but seisan is the technique kata. This form takes the power of sanchin and transfigures it into (probably) 13 specific self defense moves. These are all based on one specific move called wa uke, which is a circle block with a flesh tearing grab on the end.
So, taekwondo to karate to kung fu; Kebons to Taeguk to Pinans to Sanchin and seisan. This arrangement of martial arts forms provides the student with the absolute best and most complete sequence of classical training there is. Other forms can and should be studied, but this is the heart of the art right here.

Second, MMA training will raise your self-esteem. That is true because it teaches you how to remain calm and in control during times when the situation is uncertain and challenging. As a result, competitors of martial arts and fighting sports show greater self-esteem and self-efficacy.
Third, training in mixed martial arts will give you a mental workout as well as a physical one. And the mental challenges associated with this style of fighting will further keep you interested and motivated in the sport.
Fourth, practitioners of mixed martial arts get to perform a large variety of fighting techniques. Unlike traditional martial arts or other fighting sports, MMA is always acquiring new techniques. This means that there is always something new to learn!
Finally, the sport of mixed martial arts is typically practiced in group sessions. During these workouts, you’ll be paired up with other students. How To Matrix A Karate Lunge Punch

Before I begin, I should probably clear up what the word matrix means. Matrixing means to analyze and handle force and direction, it deals with the physics of the universe. A properly matrixed punch, as you will see after reading this article, cannot be argued with, and is the stuff of legends.
To properly matrix a karate lunge punch you must understand that the body is a motor, and that a motor must be connected to the ground. Thus, the question is…what leg are you standing on…and what leg does the work. When constructing a good motor one must always begin from the ground.
So, it doesn’t matter if you are performing shito ryu kata, goju ryu kata, or whatever, you start from a stance with one leg forward. You are going to step forward with the other foot, and punch with the same side fist as you are stepping with. Looks simple, but let’s examine should be going on, and let’s assume that you are starting with the left leg forward for the sake of this article.
Push with the right leg, then, as your right leg becomes the forward leg, push with your left leg. Do you understand what is going on? There are two pushes involved in this motion. This is something that almost nobody ever talks about in any of the descriptions that I have come across.
This means that you should not begin motion with the back (right) leg stiff and straight, you must start with the back leg slightly bent. And, it means you must be aware of which leg is pushing from behind, and give both legs, as they assume the rear position, the command to push. And, here is a very important point, you must sink your weight down the front leg when landing.
When it comes to martial moves this is actually quite a bit more complex than anybody understands. The fact that it is one of the first karate moves you will ever do puts it as a foundation for all martial arts techniques, and if you don’t have the simple complexities down, your martial arts are going to be suffering. To understand the rest of the punch you need only understand one thing: keep the shoulders aligned with the hips, move the fist and the foot together, and search for liquid smoothness when executing.
Now, whether you are practicing classical karate as a simple coordination exercise for kumite karate, or whether you are practicing the highest shodan kata for testing, your success depends on one thing: awareness. When you practice the front punch, and every other karate technique you know, from every karate kata you know, you must analyze and handle your body and motion so that every thing works together, like a well oiled…motor. Awareness, that is what is at the heart of matrixing, and that is what is going to give you the strongest, hardest karate front punch known to man.
