How to Exercise and Burn Fat on a Busy Schedule

In my fitness consulting business, I get the opportunity to talk with people from all walks of life about their health, fitness, and weight loss goals. Whether their goal is to lose weight, gain muscle, stick to a diet plan or program, improve their cardiovascular health, or simply to maintain their current fitness level they all have one common enemy—TIME.

For most of us, the #1 challenge in the quest to stay in shape and/or lose weight is not exercising itself but being able to actually fit an exercise program into our busy schedules.

So how do you do it? How do you balance the demands of family, career, important errands, relationships, organizational responsibilities, and working out? I have found that there are five keys that will help you to be able to fit a consistent workout plan into your already hectic life.

  1. Commit to a specific schedule

When you fail to plan you plan to fail. Don’t try to haphazardly fit your workouts into your schedule without any rhyme or reason. Don’t think you’re guilty? If you’ve ever told yourself “I’ll workout as soon as I get some time”,
you were in direct violation of this key principle.

In order to set yourself up for success, you will need to take the time to literally write your workouts into your weekly schedule. In order to be effective, you will want to be following your exercise program at least 3 days per week. Anything less would be kidding yourself.

Therefore, right in the midst of all of your appointments, “to-do” lists, etc., should be a written plan for your weekly workout routine, so that
you will never be in the dark as to when you committed to yourself to go.

  2. Utilize the weekend

Take advantage of the fact that it only takes 3-5 days per week to put together an effective, results-producing workout. One trick to help you pull it all off is to workout on the weekends. One of the benefits to this course of action is that your schedule is more flexible and under your control during this time.

What is also means is that when the hectic weekdays roll back around, you will only be responsible for working out 1-3 days during the work week.

  3. Keep your workouts as a high priority

One of the biggest mistakes that even many people who have scheduled a workout program into their schedule make is allowing it to be bumped off of their schedule to easily.

Although things will occassionally come up that will cause you to have to reschedule the workout you had planned, you must be vigilant in making sure that only the most important emergencies are allowed to temporarily take you off of your plan.

In the event that one of those important emergencies does happen and you can’t make it to your workout, reschedule with yourself to make it up on the next possible day that you are available to do so. If your own health, fitness, and efforts to lose weight are not a priority to you, they certainly won’t be so to anyone else.

  4. Enroll others in your goals

Don’t go at this alone. Let the important people in your life know what you are up to. Your spouse or love interest, parents, children, co-workers, and close friends will often pitch in and help you to meet your fitness or weight loss commitment to yourself if you make them aware and ask for their support.

Leverage these relationships to delegate some of your normal responsibilities
or even allow you to shift appointments that you have with them as you restructure your schedule for your workout. If any of them are into exercise or trying to lose weight themselves, don’t hesitate to form a buddy system with them as you move forward with your program.

  5. Don’t beat yourself up

No matter who you are, there will be times in your workout program that you just aren’t able to keep it up as you would like due to outside demands. Don’t be too tough on yourself when that happens.

Remember that it is what you do consistently over a long period of time, not what you do in spurts, that truly counts. Just make sure that you get back on the horse full force as soon as you can and continue to press forward, doing your best to avoid slacking off again.

No matter what goals you have for health, fitness, or weight loss, you CAN fit an effective exercise program into that hectic schedule of yours and be amazingly successful at getting the exact results that you want!

An Introduction to Mexican Salsas

When it comes to salsa, there are many of us whose salsa expertise begins and ends with the big brands that you will find in any grocery store across the US. These salsas are mostly tomato-based and tend to be relatively mild in terms of heat; while these salsas can be quite good, there are many other salsas to experience. It is true that you will find plenty of mild tomato salsa in Mexico as well, but Mexican salsas offer so much variety that it would be a shame not to explore further. You can even make your own salsas at home with ease!

Salsa has become very popular in the past few decades, finally eclipsing even ketchup as the best selling condiment in the US. Of course, most of this salsa is the mild grocery store salsas we spoke of earlier; but you should definitely branch out and discover some new favorites as well. Many Mexican salsa recipes call for a little more heat than you may be accustomed to, but there is a salsa for everyone from the chili lover to those who cannot take much in the way of spice. Of course, when you make your own salsa, you can adjust the heat level to your own tastes.

Salsa is actually a general term; the word simply means “sauce” in Spanish. Of course when we in the states say salsa we are thinking of a certain kind of sauce used as a condiment for Mexican dishes and as a dip – but there are a lot of different kinds of salsas out there made from an incredible variety of ingredients.

You will find many tomato salsas, generally including jalapeno or Serrano peppers along with onions and herbs, green salsas made from tomatillos (small green tomatoes) and green salsas which are much spicier, made with a base of pureed green chilies. You will also find chilies made with ground-dried chilies like guajillo, pasilla and others and even salsas that are somewhat reminiscent of pesto, being made from a base of ground pumpkin seeds and nuts!

For those looking for Mexican recipes like a milder Mexican salsa recipe, which offer something, a little bit different, a fruit salsa may be in order. Peach salsas are especially popular, with the sweetness and tartness of the peaches and tomatoes complimenting each other perfectly.

You can also make your own fruit salsas at home. While mangoes and peaches are both great choices, do not be afraid to experiment and find your own combinations. Pineapple, avocado, and other fruits can all be used in salsa with delicious results.

One of the easiest salsas to make is pico de gallo. The name means “rooster’s beak” in Spanish and can be made in almost no time at all. You may have tried this salsa yourself in a restaurant; but it is easy and quick to make at home and it is an ideal complement for many Mexican dishes as well as being a great dip for tortilla chips. The recipe is very simple, calling for diced tomato, onion and jalapeno along with cilantro and a little limejuice. It is simplicity itself, but incredibly good.

Unfortunately, we do not have nearly enough time to tell you about all of the many variations on Mexican salsas which you could try at home. These ideas can get you off to a good start; with a little research and a little experimentation in your kitchen, you are sure to come up with some of your very own salsa recipes, which can add a little variety; and a little spice to your own Mexican creations.

Fast Weight Loss From Cabbage Soup Diet Sustainable?

September 21, 2009 by

One of the low to no carb diets you have undoubtedly heard of is the cabbage soup diet. This diet works well for most people, at least in the short term. There is some appreciable weight loss in the first few weeks, but most people who try the diet lose interest quickly and regain the weight. This is like what happens in all of these low to no carb diets. If you want a diet which will work for you over a longer time, it needs to have the variety which will let you enjoy, not dread your meals.

This diet is well known as a fat burning soup diet, being that it contains ingredients which are believed to help the body burn off fat. However, other than the cabbage soup, dieters on this regimen do not have a lot of dietary choices besides low to no carb foods such as fruits and vegetables.

When you analyze the cabbage soup or fat burning soup recipe, it could be considered another of the low to no carb diets. The soups main fat-burning, vegetables consists of: onions, tomatoes, peppers, celery, and of course, cabbage. Some of the more creative versions are now substituting broccoli or cauliflower for the cabbage. You can add spices to taste and bouillon or hot sauce, if desired.

This diet is very carbohydrate-poor, since carbohydrates are turned into sugar by the body and then stored in fat cells. This soup is vegetable based and low-carb; the ingredients encourage your metabolism to burn off more calories. This is why most people lose weight on the diet, but as stated above, a lot of people quickly lose interest in the cabbage soup diet.

This is how the diet works: you can all the soup you like any time that you want. Other than the soup, you can eat fruit (other than bananas) on day 1. On day two you can eat vegetables, other than corn, peas and beans. You can also have a baked potato along with the soup for dinner on day two, since this is meant to trick your body into thinking that you are adding carbs back to your diet.

On Day 3, you guessed it, soup, fruits and vegetables and Day 4 is soup, bananas and skim milk. On Day 5, it is low fat meat and tomatoes, with soup, of course, and Day 6 is soup, meat and green leafy vegetables. The final day, Day 7, is soup and brown rice. This diet is not a plan you can stick with very long, because if you don’t lose interest due to lack of variety, you would eventually suffer mal-nutrition.

The cabbage soup diet is just like any of the low to no carb diets, in the fact it restricts the carbohydrates, which the body turns to sugar for energy or stores in fat cells. The diet doesn’t restrict how often you eat, which is likely to be often, as long as it is soup, or the fruit/vegetable of the day.

While the cabbage soup diet doesn’t restrict how many times a day you eat, and is like other low to no carb diets, the best diet is one that would include fat burning foods, as well as a variety of nutritional food, allow you to eat numerous times a day, that you could lose weight on and stick with long-term, like FatLoss4Idiots program that is highly recommended in the link below.

How To Lose Your Stubborn Abdominal Fat?

As we age, it becomes harder to lose fat whether by diets or exercise. Most of the time, we gain weight around our midsection and it can be very difficult to lose this fat. You may have noticed yourself developing a beer belly when you never touch the stuff; you are probably beginning to understand belly fat. This is where fat cells will typically settle in your body.

Your body has a natural drive to store energy in the form of belly fat to guard you against times of scarcity. Although in western societies, there is rarely if ever a risk of famine, our bodies have not kept pace with the progress of our society. Our bodies are still inclined to accumulate belly fat even when there is no shortage of food.

What goes on in our bodies when we try to lose fat by dieting is that our brain interprets the reduced caloric intake as a famine, which leads your body to try to store your food as fat. What you have to do is to trick your metabolism into thinking you are still getting enough calories to sustain its processes by varying the food you eat.

In times of extreme stress or when you are very busy, you may eat less and still gain weight. This is because your body sees the situation quite differently than you do. Your body thinks you are going through a period of scarcity – and the stress hormone Cortisol also plays a role in encouraging belly fat formation.

Many diets do not give the brain enough variety, and it will decrease the fat burning hormones and metabolism to meet the calorie intake. So, if you drop from 2,500 calories a day, to 1,000, your metabolism will drop from burning 2,500 calories to 1,000 and your weight will plateau. If you are trying to lose fat by dieting, then you need to eat a variety of foods, changing every couple days, since it will take a couple days for your body’s metabolism to catch up.

To eliminate fat, you need to trick your fat burning hormones and your brain into believing that you are still taking in enough calories – this will cause your metabolism to go ahead and use the energy stored as fat, which helps you to lose belly fat.

When dieting to lose fat, you need to balance your fat burning hormone levels and your metabolism by eating the right amount of nutritional and fat burning calories. This will let you lose belly fat even while eating a lower calorie diet. Since your body will only use stored fat after burning what you are taking in, you will have to have a lower caloric intake while keeping your metabolism high.

The best way to understand belly fat and to begin losing that excess fat is to eat a variety of foods more than three times a day to keep your metabolism operating at a high rate, like the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet that is highly recommended at the link below.

All people know that fast food is bad, but do they know why? As the problem of overweight is becoming prevalent all over the world, we cannot underestimate the menace of fast food to human.

There is an increasing number of fast food restaurants all over the world, and less home cooked diet be made, because the advertising budget of the fast food outlets has been greatly raised. It is easy to understand why more and more people are attracted to go to fast food shops to have their meals.

Under the attractive and delicious appearance of these products, there are numerous dangers to health. No matter you have eaten much or less, these products can cause obesity. Children are even more dangerous.

For fast food, I am not only referring those products which are processes and pre-prepared, which will be cooked fast and so handed over to the customer within a few minutes. For example, those omnipresent burgers and fries restaurant that are advertised on TV all the time.

It also includes the products that you can buy from supermarkets. These products can be microwaved and eaten in just a minute.

Busy mothers are those busy in a full time job in order to earn a living, are viewed as the target audience of those convenience food. These fast food, or food that don’t need any preparation or traditional cooking, are equally unwholesome as the hamburgers and pizzas.

Here is the reason that makes those foods unhealthy and unhygienic. Those processed and prepared foods which can be bought from fast food shops and supermarkets are lack of nutrients. You can only find pasta, corn flour, bread crumbs, processed egg, processed potato etc. in these products. The hidden ingredients that you cannot see include saturated fats, hydrogenated oil etc. In addition, herbs, spices, salts and sugars are added to make these foods taste good.

Artificial colors, preservatives and also artificial flavoring are added to the fast food, this made the whole package of it became totally unhealthy.
