Get enough sleep. Studies show that lack of sleep or sleeping for less than four hours over an extended period of time can slow down your metabolism. For good health and a great body, be sure to get between seven and nine hours of sleep.

Do things by hand. In this modern world where most of the work is performed by machines (appliances I mean), you can get fat easily. Do things the old-fashioned way to get rid of calories. For example, wash the dishes yourself instead of using a dishwasher. Clean your own room, make dinner and go out with the dog. You’ll be amazed how many calories you can burn just by doing these things.

Don’t use the car. If you wish to go out and its not too far, walk instead. This can help you lose weight. To keep track of the distance you’ve traveled, use a pedometer to tell you how many steps you’ve made. Finally, eat more often but don’t eat to much. Experts say that the body uses lots of energy to burn up smaller meals every few hours than by eating the same number of calories in two or three meals. Take one slice of toast and spread with some spicy mustard and place a few egg slices on top. Add a slice of low-fat cheese of choice and some sprouts. Spread a thin layer of prepared basil pesto (and, if desired some fresh basil leaves for added basil flavor) on the other piece of toast and place on top of the sandwich.

- Sweet Salsa Topped Waffles: Toast a couple of whole grain waffles and top with a combination of diced apple pieces, canned crushed pineapple (drained), some chopped nuts, a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. If desired, top each waffle and sweet salsa with a spoonful of plain Greek style yogurt.
