Airsoft Guns – Some Brief Information
January 27, 2010 by Anthony Carter
Airsoft guns are very popular for recreational use and becoming even more popular today as the market evolves for these detailed replicas of the real thing. Just what exactly is an airsoft gun though?
The most simple description is that they are near perfect replicas of the real thing. The only difference in these and their counterparts are the ammunition and how it is fired. Compressed gas such as CO2 is the most common means of firing their plastic pellets, but some models use electric motors and spring driven pistons. They also have an amazing muzzle velocity of about 30 to 250 meters per second and the ammunition comes in a standard 6mm size.
You shouldn\’t let the talk of plastic pellets fool you though, copper and other metal pellets have been known to be used in these guns and these will cause damage to the skin. If the proper supplies are used however, airsoft guns can be a pretty safe method of entertainment. The recommended age for use is 16 and up so children younger then this should never use them especially not unsupervised. Some states even require you to be at least 18 before being able to enter a tournament.
Airsoft guns have an interesting history to go along with them that starts in Japan around the 1970\’s. You see, during that time it was illegal to have a firearm, but because people were still interested in them these replicas were invented. These earliest version were powered by springs themselves and fired rubber pellets. The standard 6mm to 8mm size we see today came later. They did evolve quickly in to gas powered guns however.
In the 1990\’s this fun toy wandered over to North America and changed how we viewed recreational fun forever. Once North American\’s added their knowledge to the mix we ended up with what we know these gun replicas as today.
Because cheap versions of these guns were being manufactured the United States had to toughen up on the import. Today, in order for an airsoft gun to be imported in to the country or sold here legally they must have a bright orange tip. This is for safety reasons since they look so much like real weapons.
Life like accuracy is so close in some cases that companies often times encounter legal problems with intellectual property laws because they weren\’t given permission by the gun manufacturers to create copies. Most of these companies have been based in Japan and so the United States has banned import on specific models because of the detailed similarity to the real deal.
I bet you are thinking about how much fun this all sounds right now, aren\’t you? Well, it is! Whole families sometimes get involved in this activity and use it as a way to spend family time together. Some people say its a wonderful way to relieve stress as well! If you need a little excitement in your life but don\’t want anything too dangerous then just maybe you should look in to this one. Fanatics doubt you will be disappointed and you just might become a fanatic yourself.

Airsoft Guns Give Realism To Pretend Battles
January 23, 2010 by Anthony Carter
If cops and robbers or G. I. Joe were your favorite games as a youngster, then there\’s a sport for you: airsoft guns.
Airsoft guns are authentic-looking, detailed replicas of genuine weapons used by soldiers and cops. They\’re used today in role-playing games that can be as simple as a skirmish between two players in somebody\’s back yard all the way up to a military re-enactment of the beaches at Normandy or a superspy shoot-out a la Jason Bourne.
Airsoft players compete according to an honor system, in which participants are expected to admit honestly when they\’ve been, because airsoft pellets don\’t leave marks, unlike paintballs. Airsoft pellets also are light enough that, depending on the airsoft gun\’s muzzle velocity and the players\’ distance between once another, a targeted player may not even feel the \”hit.\”
While the prospect of such realistic replicas may alarm some parents, airsoft gun enthusiasts insist that their games are not intended for children. Most airsoft guns are age-restricted to players over 16, and commercially organized airsoft games usually require players to be at least age 18.
Longtime hobbyists recommend that beginners try spring-powered airsoft guns first, until they get a feel for the gear. Spring-powered guns tend to be made more cheaply, often in China, and therefore are more likely to break in the most vigorous battle simulations. Compressed-gas airsoft guns are sturdier, but the top gun for serious airsoft enthusiasts is an airsoft electric gun, or AEG.
Rechargeable batteries in AEGs run an electric motor located in the gun handle. This small motor drives a spring-piston unit that propels the plastic pellets. AEGs are much faster to fire than spring-loaded or compressed-guns. This faster performance has led to the development of a range of AEGs that closely simulate automatic or semi-automatic guns. Because airsoft guns can look so much like real guns, they\’re required by U. S. Law to have a bright orange plastic tip on the muzzle to distinguish them as replicas.
While most airsoft gun bullets are rubber or plastic, some are metal. The non-metal pellets usually are too light to injure a player, but metal projectiles have been known to break a player\’s skin if fired at close enough range. Usually, however, airsoft guns\’ projectiles travel too slowly to do any damage to a player. Muzzle velocities for spring-power or compressed-gas airsoft guns vary from 30 to 260 meters per second (100 to 850 feet per second). Electric-powered airsoft guns fire pellets at 150 and 500 feet per second (60 to 150 meters per second), sometimes firing as many as 3, 000 rounds a minute. True bullet speed ranges from 370 to 1, 500 meters per second (or not as fast as Superman!).
Airsoft gun hobbyists tailor their games to the number of games and their surroundings. A small group of players typically might engage in a few short skirmishes, a \”winner-take-all\” version. Organized teams often concoct detailed scenarios, requiring players to work through barriers to get to a specific goal or location. Major airsoft games such as military simulations, or even historical reenactments, involve dozens of players and complicated role-playing scripts.
Airsoft guns powered by electricity contain a rechargeable battery that runs an electric motor. This motor drives a piston-spring device that launches the pellets. Battery power led to the creation of automatic or semi-automatic airsoft guns that are now the most popular. These guns can achieve projectile velocities between 150 and 500 feet per second or 60 to 150 meters per second, and can fire from 100 to 3, 000 rounds per minute. Not bad for a plastic replica gun.

Discover About Responsible Ownership Of Airsoft Guns
January 22, 2010 by Anthony Carter
Extremely realistic in feel and look, airsoft guns are fast becoming the preferred choice in many recreational circles, such as paintballing practice and the like. However, because of the excellent detailing, they have also been used by many enforcement agencies; state and federal, in training exercises.
Designs vary, though all remain very close to the originals they aim to replicate. The obvious difference is in the mechanisms used to fire them; with range from springs, compressed gases, (such as propane and CO2), and spring loadings. Whilst many can be operated manually, automatically charged weapons are the product of choice.
Non-metallic six millimeter pellets are fired from the muzzle, at velocities starting from thirty, right up until an extremely fast and potentially damaging speed of sixty meters per second.
Despite these restrictions, airsoft guns can still be extremely dangerous. Because of this, it is important to stress they are anything but toys and, subsequently, should not be used by children; certainly without responsible adult supervision.
Again, this is also down to the very realistic look of the weapons. And, with no rules or laws controlling their possession, it is very much down to your judgment as a responsible owner to control their use and access.
The realism issue has been countered by federal insistence that a bright orange or yellow muzzle cap is to be attached at all times. However, irresponsible owners have been known to idiotically remove this.
It is an idiotic action for many reasons; not least that as a direct result of such modifications, there are reported instances of trouble. Occasionally this has resulted in death, as the validity, (or non validity), of the airsoft gun as a real weapon has been in question with the authorities.
Whilst leaving the bright indicating device is sensible, there are other ways to ensure your ownership of airsoft guns remains responsible and fun.
No matter what the joke maybe, it is imperative that you never point your weapon at someone who is not fully aware of what is going on. As already discussed, these weapons are extremely well detailed representations of their real counterparts. As a minimum it will cause panic, and could lead to a long jail sentence for you; or worse.
In some states, it is a felony to point ANY weapon at another person; whereby the felony relates to that person\’s perception of the weapon and the harm it can cause; not what the weapon actually is or can actually do.
Indeed, pointing the weapon at someone who is completely aware of what it is should also be tightly controlled, and only then when they are wearing protective equipment.
Finally, airsoft guns should really only be transported when you are travelling to use them and, should most certainly not be taken out in public areas. Applying common sense will hopefully ensure you enjoy your weapon responsibly however, if you are ever confronted by enforcement agencies, discard it immediately. Differences can be resolved, mistakes often can\’t.

Airsoft Guns – Safety Precautions Should Still Be Taken
January 21, 2010 by Anthony Carter
We have noticed more and more individuals that have started to get into the world of airsoft guns. Have you been thinking about getting into them? If so, then you should first learn everything there is to learn about. In front of you, you have an article that is packed full of knowledge that you should stock up on, so pay close attention to what we are going to tell you…
Airsoft guns are replicas of actual firearms that are constructed to mimic the design of popular firearms, including those used by the military and brand name firearms, including those created by Colt and other firearm manufacturers. Airsoft guns use a couple different mechanisms in order to fire pellets, including compressed gas or a spring-driven piston.
In order to differentiate an airsoft gun from an actual firearm, a bright orange tip is usually added during manufacturing. Removing this tip is illegal in the United States and many other nations.
A variety of uses for airsoft guns exist. Airsoft guns can be used for training purposes, recreation, and are used in lieu of actual firearms with blanks during the production of movies. Airsoft guns can still be hazardous, despite being much safer than actual firearms, so it is important to keep safety in mind during use.
Safety precautions must be followed when using an airsoft gun. It is important to only use airsoft guns in places specifically designated for their use. This is not only a safety precaution, but it is also the law in many places.
An airsoft gun should be handled as if it were an actual firearm. It should not be wielded in public places, and it should not be fired at individuals that are not wearing protection. As was stated before, it should only be used in locations that are specifically designated for their use.
Finally, it is important to always store and carry an airsoft gun in a safe place. When transporting an airsoft gun, you shoudl always make sure you use a proper case in order to store it. Also, it is import to be aware of all legal requirements associated with carrying and using an airsoft gun in order to avoid any legal consequences, including fines and possible imprisonment. When purchasing an airsoft gun, it is important to be aware of the different types that are available and which type is appropriate for the scenario in which it will be used. If you are a beginner, a slower firing airsoft gun can be used for practice. When used in competitions, one that fires and reloads quickly is necessary.
It is important to be aware of climate factors that can affect the use of airsoft guns. In colder environments, an airsoft gun that is electric should be considered, since it will help keep the gas warmer and usable. In warm environments, this is not as much of an issue, since the gas will stay warm and usable. Now that you know about them, what do you think?

Fundamentals Of Purchasing Airsoft Guns
January 20, 2010 by Anthony Carter
If you\’re interested in airsoft guns, you\’re going to need to know what\’s on the market to help you in making a decision. Even if you\’re relatively familiar with all the different options, knowing which is best can be a bit overwhelming in determining both the gun itself and the pellets you\’ll need to use. This article is intended to help with the process.
First, decide whether you need a target or hunting gun. Target guns use less energy, although they have to be very accurate to be able to hit even the smallest goals. Hunting guns don\’t have quite this pinpoint accuracy, but are still very effective in this area. Still, their most significant feature is that they fire with three to five times the energy that can be sure to send the pellets a long way.
You might be interested in pre-charged guns, as these allow you to shoot constantly without having to re-cock. Whichever you get, though, it\’s important that you have the right pellets as you shoot. This means paying attention to the caliber and finding out which is the best for you. Sometimes you\’ll even need to use several calibers together.
If you\’re trying to determine which pellets will move the fastest, you need to take a look at their size. Large pellets move more slowly both because they\’re heavier and because they cause more wind resistance. By looking at the type of pellet you\’re buying, you should be able to get an idea of how fast it is and what things it should be used for.
Assume for a moment you are going to use your airsoft guns for target practice. In this case, you also need to know how to determine the best accuracy. There are various factors to the pellet that help determine this, the first of which being the crown – the barrel lip which surface should keep the pellet from wobbling in a way that can throw it off.
You\’ll also need to pay attention to factors like the uniformity and wind. Uniformity in this case refers to how the pellet spins. If it isn\’t perfectly balanced for this, there\’s no way to maintain proper accuracy. Also, if you\’re shooting into the wind, your pellets could simply be blown off course, especially if they\’re light and can get caught up.
If you\’re going to be using your gun on both living and man-made targets, you might want a couple different ones to meet all your needs. In this case, or especially if you\’re just getting one, you need to make sure you spend your money well. Shop around and ask others for advice to get a gun that really does meet up to all the promises it makes to you.
Of course, the best option, if you get it, is to try airsoft guns before you buy it. When you\’re doing this, you should shoot at a bar of soap. For hunting guns especially, this gives an idea of how good the guns are and what the pellets will do. Compare the effects of several different combinations of guns and pellets until you find the right one for the job.

Airsoft Guns For Low-Risk Military Fun
January 12, 2010 by Anthony Carter
In the late 1970\’s, in Japan, there was a nationwide ban on firearms. It was no longer legal to sell, transport, or own any kind of weapon. However, this did not stop people from wanting to do target practice or engage in paramilitary games. Then somebody came up with the idea of an airsoft gun. Airsoft guns look like real guns. They are only a little bit lighter than steel weapons. Often, you get the same recoil from an airsoft gun. However, they are not designed to do anyone harm. This was the perfect solution for Japan.
Today, people all over the world are using airsoft guns for military simulations and range practice. Some police forces even use these guns for official training exercises. Except for their ammunition, airsoft guns are almost like the real thing.
Airsoft guns look like the real thing. Often they have a similar heft and kickback as their cousin steel weapons. However, airsoft guns are made of a combination of plastic and lighter metals such as aluminum.
More importantly, they do not fire real bullets, but 6 and 8 mm BBs made out of plastic. These BBs are not designed to injure. They may sting a little if you are hit at close range and they can do damage if your eyes are unprotected. Otherwise, airsoft guns and their attendant ammunition are the perfect way for the military buff to have his fun in the woods without worrying about hurting anyone. Airsoft guns are also now used as training weapons for police forces and sometimes even the military.
The BBs can be fired out of airsoft guns in a variety of ways. The most popular is the gas mechanism. Green gas or pure propane is used to create a pocket of pressurized air that shoots the pellet out at just under 100 m/s. The kickback of a gas powered airsoft gun is closest to the kickback you\’d get from the real thing, a major factor in their popularity.
After gas power comes electric. Electric airsoft guns use a battery-powered electric motor to shoot a blast of high pressured air behind the BB. Electric guns give you about the same range and power as a gas gun, but they are not as reliable and shouldn\’t be used in wet conditions. The first type of airsoft gun to hit Japan in the early 1980\’s was the spring powered gun.
It is a combination of propane, a perfume, and a silicon lubricant. Due to its expense, there are now some airsoft guns that can be fired with just propane. Gas is the most sought after propellant because of its realistic kick back.
If you decide to purchase an airsoft gun for target practice or military games, check on the regulations your country has on these weapons. For instance, in the US they are classified as a toy and come with a blaze orange cap. Some people choose to remove or paint over these caps but this is illegal in some areas. Just remember that your airsoft gun should be a tool for fun, not harm.

Airsoft Guns – Perfect For A Beginning Hunter
January 11, 2010 by Anthony Carter
Are you an avid hunter and want to get your children involved in this process as well? Why not start your teenager out with one of the airsoft guns? These guns are perfect for the beginning hunter because they are not as deadly as a regular, high powered gun.
The basics of hunting can be taught with an Airsoft gun so that if they need some extra practice and make some off shots, they will be spreading a rubber bb over the area instead of an actual bullet. They will learn that handling a job requires a lot of concentration and practice in order to shoot one safely.
Because these guns are powered by high pressure air they can still be dangerous. If someone is hit in an arm or leg on accident with a rubber bb from the gun it will defiantly leave a mark or bruise but it should not break the skin. That is an advantage over a bullet that can go through a person if a shot is misfired.
When you are preparing your hunter in training to shoot the Airsoft gun, give them the training that they need on making a good shot. Purchase them a package of paper targets and let them practice aiming at the center of the target. The paper targets are pretty cheap and can be found in the sporting good section of any store.
When they are ready to move on to other targets and they have shown you that they can be responsible when using the Airsoft guns, take them to the next level. Find a very remote area where there is no chance that someone may be jogging or walking in the woods. Let your new hunter practice shooting outside and at actual targets like squirrels or at random leaves or tree limbs that are selected by you.
Getting out and into the woods is the next step to getting them ready to go hunting with you. You will be showing them how to take aim on targets with the Airsoft gun and what to watch for when they are out there with a gun with bullets. Show them the deer tracks and signs that a deer has been in that area. Have them listen to the sounds of the woods so that they will know what to expect as they take their first tree stand next to you soon.
Teaching the young people how to hunt and maneuver the land is a very important part of growing up. The training that used to be provided with a very dangerous, full loaded weapon has now gotten a little safer when using an Airsoft gun. You can teach them weapon safety and keep them safe during the training.
In order to keep our young people safe we should take some precautions when training them to use a fully loaded weapon. This can be accomplished with Airsoft guns. These guns will make the learning experience much safer and more rewarding for the teacher.

Airsoft Guns Are Harmless And Fun

The initial idea behind the manufacturing of airsoft guns first started in Asia and Japan during the 1980\’s. Owning a firearm in these countries was unheard of, however there was still a demand for the guns. So, inadvertently as a means to still have a gun, many people got together and began to manufacture an airsoft gun that would not pose as much danger as the real thing.
The guns were manufactured to resemble everything about a real gun. People began to avidly purchase the guns all over Asia and Japan. The sport became so big that the guns soon began to be available in North America as well. Many people use the guns today to engage in organized war games.
Many people love using their airsoft guns for sports such as paint balling. The guns are relatively low in price and come equipped for everything from a beginner player to a veteran player to use. You can find a plethora of low cost guns, so you can join in on the fun of organized war games.
The game rules that people go by when using the airsoft guns are relatively easy to follow. Normally there are two teams that play amongst one another. These games require an immense amount of skill, strategy, and tactics, just like you were actually in a war based scenario. People love the fact that they can engage in this adrenaline rush game, and not pose any danger to being hurt by one of the guns.
When you follow all of the rules and safety guidelines of the games that are set forth, there is no chance that you will ever become seriously injured.
There are three specific airsoft guns on the market. You can obtain the gas powered gun, the spring gun, as well as the electric gun. Each gun has its own specified advantages and disadvantages that you should take heed of before using them.
The gas powered airsoft guns use compressed air to be able to send your pellets flying at high distances. A lot of people like the gas powered guns because they allow them the opportunity to aim and shoot for anything, therefore they are mainly used in target practice scenarios. The spring powered guns resemble your ordinary rifles. They have to be re-cocked after every shot.
The electric guns are the most popular guns on the market today. A lot of people seamlessly love their added power and high firing rate. All of the guns that are available can be used by both beginner and skilled players.
The guns resemble the real thing, that often times they do get mistaken for being one. They can fire pellets of 6mm all the way up to 8mm at speeds of 75-100 meters per second. The guns are very impressive when it comes to speed and overall performance. This is a reason why so many people are opting to get airsoft guns on top of a regular gun.
As long as you follow the terms and conditions of usage, using an airsoft gun is completely harmless and inadvertently fun to anyone that has the opportunity to engage utilizing one.

Airsoft Guns Need Respected Constantly
December 29, 2009 by Anthony Carter

One of the most popular items amongst young boys and girls on a Christmas wish list includes airsoft guns. Airsoft guns are relatively inexpensive and can make an excellent tool for teaching a child responsibility. These guns are very good for training purposes, in order to prepare the kids to become excellent marksman for hunting or even the military or police academy.
Children love to do as adults do. The fact is if a child has a desire to hunt animals, then this type of gun is essential for the child to get the hang of having a gun, and how to use it, and clean it properly. Always teach children how to take proper care of the gun, and explain the importance of the proper uses for the gun. These fundamentals will carry on as the child graduates into a young adult and is allowed to hunt.
Now that the gun as been bought. Make the child wait until they get home to open the package and play with the gun. Most kids are so excited upon purchase, they think they have to open it and use it right away. This is one of the worst things to do, open the package in the car. A parent cannot stress the fact enough, that these guns need to be treated with the utmost respect.
While the gun is on safe, the correct procedure of loading ammunition needs to be learned by the child. Always stress the fact that gun needs to be on the safe mode before loading, unloading, and reloading. Then explain the importance of where the barrel of the gun is, the barrel location of the gun is another important gun handling lesson.
Snakes can be eliminated by using an air soft gun also. Some of the more powerful airsoft weapons, use co2 cartridges to increase the power of the ammunition release. When these guns are used, they are almost as powerful as a small caliber actual firearm. One cannot see the ammunition leaving the barrel and these types of guns can be highly dangerous. They will penetrate a thick rubber tire at a close distance, such as ten or twenty feet.
When using the sights of a gun, the child needs to be observed rather closely, to ensure the correct eye dominance is being used. Sometimes, a child can be shooting right handed, but the left eye is dominant. This can be noticed when a child is looking completely over the gun, instead of straight down the barrel.
There has been bank robberies and hold ups stemming from the purchase of air soft guns. In some cases the replicas resemble the real gun in such a way, that policemen have been fooled into shooting a person because of the presence of a gun.
Once these rules are explained and enforced, chances are when the situation arises for the purchase of a real live firearm, the safety rules with be of second nature to the young adult which learned these rules as a child. There earlier these guidelines are instilled the safer the gun user will be later on in life.

The airsoft guns can be used by individuals looking for unlimited shooting fun by using these guns in games and shooting events. These guns are also suitable for individuals good at the online shooting games. The guns can be safely used without causing any physical harm to others. The best part of these guns is their non-lethal nature and their replication of the actual firearms. However, the guns have a smaller size as compared to the original guns.
These guns were used by the passionate gun lovers of Japan for the first time in the history of the airsoft guns. At that time, the bullets used in these guns were plastic pellets. During the starting days, the guns were powered by the spring energy but later shifted to other energy sources such as gas and electricity.
In spite of the fact that the guns are of non-lethal nature there are certain laws in some countries regarding the possession and usage of these guns. However, majority of the countries do not have any kind of laws for the usage and possession of the airsoft guns. These guns are issued to all individuals who satisfy the age requirement. Only important thing regarding usage of these guns is to follow the safety guidelines.
Individuals should try to get the accessories along with the gun to have a wonderful time taking part in the shooting events. Some of the important accessories necessary for making the event come alive are goggles, war uniforms, helmets, and other similar kind of accessories.
These guns provide the users with the best shooting experience. The whole event comes alive when the individuals use the guns and the associated accessories for the event. Since the package for the gun contains everything, the individuals can fit the accessories quickly and go for the shooting session.
There are many different shooting sights to allow users to have fun using the airsoft guns. During the events, the individuals can plan strategy, hide, dodge bullets, run, and take part in the assault activities as well.
