Isn’t it great what they are saying in newspapers and TV about weight loss? It’s amazing the results they claim about losing ten pounds in two days and eat everything without ever needing to worry about gaining it back.
By the way they also tell you that you don’t have to exercise, because they have this wonder pill that will melt the fat right off. I would like to think that most people blow this crap off as the marketing scam as it is, but the truth is these ads sell or they wouldn’t still be on.
I want you to forget about all that weight loss nonsense, and get ready for some facts you can take to the bank. My goal for this article is to give you some facts and tips about weight loss.
We can fall into the trap of thinking we a presupposed to weight issues, because of obesity problems in our family history, and this could be part of the problem. But, do we really think we can blame eating a whole Pizza and sitting on the couch all night on genetics?
So the best thing you can do for yourself, is admit that you have added to the problem by your actions, or inaction. Until you take responsibility for your own weight problems, there is no way to fix the problem.
What people don’t understand is this is not as much about weight loss as it is about lifestyle changes. . The hard cold facts are you have no choice, if you don’t want to cheat yourself and your family out of years of your life.
Now that I have you blaming yourself, I do want to advise you to visit your doctor to make certain you don’t have a physical problem that might make it harder for you to lose weight. Your Doctor will also be able to tell you if your fit enough to start an exercise plan. After all you don’t want to be jogging if you have knee problems. If you have a good Doctor he or she should be able to help you set goals on how much weight to lose and how fast you should try and take it off
Even if you don’t get help from your Doctor, it is important that you set realistic goals before you start your plan.. Realistic goals are ones that do challenge you, but are not so far out of reach that your going to give up before you get there. If you need to lose a lot of weight, you can’t set your goal for the whole amount at once, you need to set goals is steps.
The best way to do this if you find out you want to lose 50 lbs, would be to first figure out how fast you should safely loose 50 pounds. Set your long term goal for that target, and then set monthly and even weekly goals.
The next thing you need to do is set-up your exercise program. If you new to exercise I would suggest you start out by walking. If you not use to physical activity, walking is going to give your body time to loosen up and is the safest way to start to get into shape.
Your goal should be that within two weeks you are walking up to a mile. Your going to find that one day your going to be walking faster, because you are building more strength and lung power. You’ll get the most out of your thirty minutes of walking if you go fast enough to get your heart rate up to around 120 beats per minute.
Okay now I need to be a little blunt with you. It doesn’t matter how many articles you read, if you don’t decide to put action to these words you won’t lose a pound. This is about more than losing weight, it’s about living longer.
