There are a lot more benefits to cutting down fat than just "it's not a rocket science".
First of all, metabolism reduction won't happen just because you start eating less fat if you exercise and eat enough complex carbs and protein;
Secondly, very low fat diets are extremely beneficial for the heart health; and third, there are naturally occurring fats in foods, and your diet has to become a rocket science if you want to reduce fats to less than 10% of total calories. I know, I tried. I run a website where I post results of my research and experiments, including low fat diets. Trust me, low fat diet is almost always associated with weight loss. It's highly effective.

Of course, the fats that stay in your diet should be healthy fats, and of course you need a small amount of saturated fat, and no trans fats and other harmful types.

Best,
