Liquid Diets Are Not Good For Weight Loss

Liquid diets are popular among people who want rapid weight loss. But are they really good?
Just taking liquid diets for many days is absolutely unhealthy habit. You expect rapid weight loss based on just liquid diets, but you forget that you will lose muscles mass when you go for such dieting.
Your body will not get all the required energy for its functioning from the liquid diet. So what will it do?
The body will initially burn fat in order to get the energy, then later on will burn muscles to get more energy. The end result – loss of muscles.
As you start eating solid food, the weight that you burned off may return quite easily. But the muscles will not come back as easily.
You will have to exercise regularly in order to gain back the muscles you lost. When you lose muscles, your body becomes weaker than before.
As muscle loss makes your body weak, it is not a good practice to embark on liquid diets for fast weight loss.
You will get very low amount of calories from liquid diets – in the range of 400 to 800 calories per day. Most people are not accustomed to such low calorie intake.
You may get other side effects by suddenly reducing calories so much. It is far better to take a slow and steady approach instead of attempting to lose weight overnight.
Lets recap the major problems with liquid diets – muscle loss, sudden reduction in calories, weakness of body and problem in keeping the weight off.
You might lose weight initially, but may struggle to keep it off after some time. You cannot remain on liquid diets forever. You have to come back to solid foods.
Once you start eating solid foods again, it can get pretty difficult to keep the weight from coming back again. Sometimes, you may gain back more weight than your original weight.
These temporary solutions will cause muscle loss more than real fat loss. They can also cause metabolic rate to drop.
One thing you have to be careful about is that you should not continue liquid diets for may days. Otherwise you may face serious health problems.
Prolonged use of such diets can cause kidney as well as lung problems. Your immune system may also suffer. Kidneys and lungs are very important organs of your body and deserve utmost care.
Would you like to cause damage to them because of your haste to lose a few pounds? It is far better to approach weight loss through healthy means.
Remember – liquid dieting is not at all effective when it comes to permanent weight loss. So it is not at all recommended as a means of fast weight loss.
