Detox (or detoxification) is the elimination of toxins from our body. It is accomplish through a diet which is basically limited to fruits, vegetable and water. It avoids processed foods and red meat. This kind of diet may also introduce some herbal supplements.
Detox may have been misunderstood as treatment for addiction to alcohol and drugs. On the contrary, it is also use to introduce proper diet through natural foods that helps eliminate toxins in our body.
It promises weight lose, rejuvenation and a cleansed body. The wellness industry has been profiting immensely through detox related products and services promising quick weight loss and healthier body in and out.
Now, does detox diet really uphold to its claim or is it just one of those programs claiming to a healthier new you, after some time? Many people may be following some kind of regimens of detox diet and attesting to its effectiveness, therefore many others tend to believe and probably try it out themselves. The question is, does it really work or is it just a hype created by (may I say ‘hired’) known personalities to make it appear that everything works well?
We will never know its effect until we try it out ourselves. One thing is for sure, no two bodies thrive on exactly the same diet. We have our own individual amount of requirements. We may be temporarily swayed by the craze and may join the ‘club’, but at the end of the day, our body dictates what we can take…and reject.
Is detox diet just a fad? Well, we all have our own stand. We can only answer for ourselves. Detox may be admired these days, but who knows, when another kind of diet come about? As of the moment, it is in style and many people are trying it out in pursuit of a healthier body. As to how long it will last, only time can tell.
Health industry is spending a lot of money to further the improvement on the so called ‘detox’ diet; turning them into diverse forms. But, come take a closer look, the essentials are the same. It is just being presented in a manner that is not the same as what has been already introduced. In reality, detox diet is basically an intake of natural and unprocessed foods as opposed to high fat content foods.
As to whether it is a fad or not, it can be answered by people who tried and had success with it and can be countered by people who tried and fail with the procedure. It is safe to say, that only a balanced diet saves our body. We just simply do not abuse it by taking too much junk. We must control ourselves, avoiding loads of unhealthy stuff. Take the right amount of protein, carbohydrates, fibber and fats. Yes, you got it right; our body needs fat as well. Having said that, we just simply need to take control of what we are eating. It is a simple truth, that anything that is too much or so little is not healthy. We should not be persuaded by any hype or fad. At the end of the day, it is our own body, we know what it needs.
