If you are anything like me, then you probably really enjoy running (and cardio in general). Running is an excellent way to stay fit and healthy, and is fun because you get to go literally anywhere you want while doing it. However, you will definitely need a certain level of endurance in order to maintain a steady pace. But do not worry; it is not all that difficult to increase your endurance.
For those just starting out, a great technique to up your endurance is to run an extra quarter mile each time you run. Do this for a week straight. Yes, it may be hard, but it will not take long to go that extra quarter mile; just relax your mind and do not focus on how long it is going to take to go that extra distance.
You may want to also add on an extra day of running to your weekly runs. For example, if you run 3 times a week, try adding on just 1 more day, and run 4 times per week. This will increase your stamina for running, since the more often you do anything cardio-related, the quicker your endurance will increase.
Another thing to consider is to try some fun alternatives to running. There any many fun outdoor games and sports that are great for building endurance for running. One example is the somewhat new (and very popular) sport known as airsoft. In this game you will almost ALWAYS be running, since you will be shooting at (and getting shot at by) other opponents using non-lethalairsoft rifles, which fire plastic airsoft BBs. This is just one of the many actual FUN ways that you can build up your endurance level.
Lastly, one more thing you should consider trying is interval training; this can be EXTREMELY effective for building endurance for running. Interval training simply means doing harder work for a shorter period of time. Sprinting is a perfect example of this, as is running up hills, and so on. This will not only make you stronger, but it will surely increase your endurance as well, even if it seems like it does not take much time. So put it to the test; after a couple weeks of adding in some interval training (and the strategies mentioned above), test your endurance level and see how long you can run for; you might just surprise yourself!
