Glycemic Index Weight Loss: An Introduction

Using the glycemic index to lose weight is a good idea because it’s based on scientific research that proves how carbohydrates function within the body. But the glycemic index is more than a good idea or a usable theory. The glycemic index has extensive human testing behind it and has been used by people with the same weight loss issues as you. We know it works.

This is one of the most effective weight loss programs that we know of and will do what other programs can only promise. To begin with, it gives you the reasons why you’ve gained weight from both behavioral and physiological points of view. It shows you what adequate portion size is all about. It stabilizes your blood sugar and insulin levels and keeps your body from storing new fat. You can even have the occasional treat without gaining unwanted weight.

There are some diets that many people try but don’t find any permanent or successful weight loss while on them. Diets that are low in carbohydrates and strict, as well. You will have to limit your fruits and vegetables while eating plenty of fat and meat, on a diet like this. You will gain weight by overeating in this manner and you could become insulin resistant. Diets that are too low in fat. Every day, your diet should be made up of at least 20% of fat, but no more than 30% if you want to stay healthy. You will be able to take in fatty acids that are important for your body while maintaining a diet that is low in fat. Your body cannot get rid of fat that it stores if you are not consuming any fat at all. Your foods will be filled with carbohydrates on most of these diets, because though they may be low in calories, they are highly processed. You will gain weight by eating foods like these and become resistant to insulin as a result. Diets that are too low in calories. Your diet will not be balanced and your health will suffer for it.

It is possible to stay at a low caloric intake by eating high glycemic foods and still be eating an unhealthy diet. It just isn’t healthy to be taking in fewer than 1200 calories daily, although some calorie restriction is needed. It’s difficult to get adequate amounts of nutrients that you body needs below 1200 calories per day. A low calorie diet can also indirectly lead to insulin resistance and weight gain.

By using the glycemic index you will not develop insulin resistance which will help you lose weight safely while getting adequate nutrition and calories. You don’t go hungry while you are on this program. This means that you won’t be able to eat piles of sugary sweets and pastries any more. But you can have one every now and then. Besides most people were only eating them secretly before anyway so nobody would know.
