Gay people who want to have a great vacation in South America now have a lot more destinations to choose from. The continent has a massive variety of places to go and things to do and increasingly vocal gay rights movements have ensured that it is safer than ever. There are lots of companies now offering gay vacations to South America.
Brazil is still the top gay destination in South America. Rio has long been popular with gay travelers as has Sao Paulo the two largest cities in the country. Now there are more destinations north of the cities, along the coast from Salvador to Fortaleza so gay travelers can get out of the cities and explore.
Buenos Aires has been an increasingly popular gay destination for some time and no wonder. This most European of South American cities has tons of gay bars, clubs and cafes. Palermo has some very chic gay friendly hotels and a wealth of top quality shopping and eating opportunities. San Telmo, the neighborhood for tango is also a great place to hang out and you can even take a gay tango class. The residents of Buenos Aires like to think of themselves as modern and liberal and it is possible to have a same sex civil union in the city.
Colombians are famous throughout the continent for their hospitality and ability to have a good time. The country is largely safe for travelers these days and people are starting to discover the many joys to be found there. In terms of gay travel things are also looking promising. In recent years there have been a number of new laws which give gay couples the same rights as straight couples. Bogota has a fabulous gay neighborhood called Chapinero Alto with loads of bars, cafes and gay hotels. The city hosts a gay pride event every June and many free cultural events throughout the summer.
Santiago is the other rising destination in South America. There are some great places to stay and some opportunities for a top night out. The country is moving towards legalization of gay marriage thanks to a vociferous LGBT movement. Outside the capital there is an amazing array of things to do in Chile. The natural beauty and changing landscapes are unique and you can travel from desert in the north, through the central valleys of vineyards through the Lake District to the fjords and ice fields in the south. The country also has some great ski resorts.
Other South American countries offer travel which is a bit more off the beaten path. This does not mean that gay travelers cannot find great trips to Peru, Bolivia or Ecuador. All the capitals have gay friendly places although not established scenes. However the real appeal of these countries is more adventurous pursuits such as jungle exploration, climbing, trekking, ancient ruins, traditional cultures and unique landscapes.
The popularity of South America as a vacation destination is growing. Reflecting this there are many travel agents who specialize in gay trips. The draw of places like Macchu Picchu is now pulling in more and more gay travelers.
If you want a trip full of adventure and variety check out gay tours to South America. You will find places with friendly people and amazing opportunities.

The Familiarity Of Gay Tours

Being gay is still conversational in the world we live in today and its acceptance has ebbed and flowed through history. While people like to point backwards to the openness of homosexual culture in ancient Greece, that was over 2,000 years ago and the world has not rushed forward as a whole to embrace a gay lifestyle. While some areas are very welcoming, such as Canada which allows gays to get married there are varying degrees of acceptance in small pockets and arenas – like traveling the world in any number of gay tours.
Around the United States there are many people who have no issue with gays and others who most certainly do and can, unfortunately, incite violence to make their claim. The gray scale acceptance in America is still worlds above some countries, like Iran, in which homosexuals can be sentenced to death.
Is it a choice? Are you born gay? These are the questions that the rest of the world struggles with and that a gay child does not concern themselves with. To be gay is to realize your difference very early one and carry that into puberty. Adolescence is already a time of struggle and reflection that for gay teens, includes having to choose between being in the closet and acting the part of a straight teen or coming out and dealing with reactions that can be either accepting or rejecting.
Coming to terms with sexuality and a place in the world means finding like minded individuals. Technology, thankfully, has stepped forward and given gays a voice and a community. Lesbian Gay and Transgendered (LGBT) groups have come forward to make gayness a safe and normal state of being that is supported and full of love.
Many straight adults never have to think twice about feeling accepted sexually and so it can be underestimated that for a gay person to be around other gay persons, it can be one of the most accepting and transformative experiences. Finding time to be around other gays and having a sense of community does not have to be the exclusive purview of gay clubs. Travel feeds the soul and traveling with other gay people on gay tours can open up the world.
Gay tours also work as a great travel template to know where there are areas in which acceptance is high, bringing the overall anxiety level down. These tours can be centered on cruise ships with varying destinations and a very party boat atmosphere or they can be more focused and smaller, like wildlife tours that let you explore the natural wonders of places like Alaska.
On top of having a wealth of experiences open to you, the travel manifest is also something you can have a say in. You can go on a gay tour with a combination of gays, lesbians, and their friends, or just with gay families, or just with other lesbians, or just with other gay men. Depending on your identity and preference, there is a tour waiting for you.
It is time to experience the world in a loving and accepting environment so that you can concentrate on the act of travel. The world is a huge, diverse, and impressive place so experiencing it on gay vacations with other gay individuals takes a huge psychological burden off of your shoulders.

Gay Travel Deals To Switzerland
April 1, 2010 by Howie Holben
In tourism issues, it was sighted that gay tourist will be a potential market that can bring lots of revenues to the destination market. Let us take those who do gay travel to Switzerland a stand point for this.
Switzerland is considered as one of the most spectacular countries in Europe. Although it may look a small country in the map, it surely possesses remarkable places to explore. No wonder why most tourists decide as to spending their holiday there. What is more surprising is the number of gay tourist also taking those special cruises especially intended for them. Indeed potential for generating revenue, isn’t it? They have that circle bus to depart from Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Prague, Vienna and also Amsterdam. Pricing ranges only under $100.00 up to $3,000.00 and above.
This differs in the kind of accommodation one desires to have during their journey.
Some important landscapes can be seen in Switzerland. Like that Alps covered with snows, those villages in the side of the mountains, the picturesque of real beauty indeed including that pristine valleys. Oh! I think no one can resist its splendor. A trained tour guides who are also gays will clarify tourist about the Swiss culture and will lead them to great places which they craved for seeing.
Gays can already enjoy the journey without judgments with their lifestyles. They can familiarize themselves because they will be travelling with the same gender as them. Try to ask somebody who’s been to different gay travels and their story would be happy ones. Why not read about gay journeys in Switzerland and you will be given options where you will want to go. That tours are actually treated as gay-friendly.
Going back 1970, the subject has been to many debate because others doesn’t accept homosexuals. They are having law conflicts like for marriages and people; in general, don’t see them like normal individuals. But the law for anti-discriminatory justified them. And yet, it does not assure them that all people will look at them with respect. Rejection will be present at times, no one can avoid that. With these society norms, a doubtful image can still be thrown towards the gay population.
As such, they have opted for those gay vacations packages like that in Switzerland. Though this, gays can taste the word holiday rather than mere pronouncing it. What more could be nicer in a tour than being comfortable and to feel that you are safe with the same minded people like you do?
Yes, this is the result for their pursuit of wanting to have their own tours. It gave them the freedom of traveling. They won’t anymore have the complications that they will find the need to hide themselves in the crowd. Cultures about sexuality maybe taboo. Yet, this does not prohibit the individual to enjoy if they wanted to give themselves the delight for vacation. And this, I can assure, that a gay adventure to Switzerland will be such a good idea.

The Benefits Of Gay Tantra
March 30, 2010 by Howie Holben
Tantra, a Sanskrit word means to weave, expand, spread or connect. In gay tantra the couple aims to use their opposing flows of energy to reach a deeper connection and level of spirituality. Although many people believe the process is not possible for same sex couples, the increasing numbers of people getting involved shows otherwise. The appeal for many couples is the opportunity provided to become closer and obtain a more complete understanding of their personalities.
Many couples are drawn to tantra because it has a reputation for encouraging intimacy and prolonging and intensifying climax. These are not the only benefits. For the individual the process can help them come to terms with parts of their personality they were not comfortable with before. Tantra aims to help people develop spirituality, openness, shed fear and guilt and expand their boundaries to lead a more fulfilling life. Therefore it is a system of spiritual and personal development which utilizes the sexual energies.
The history of Tantra encompasses theories and traditions from all over Asia. These have absorbed ideas from Hinduism and Buddhism. For this reason teachers of Tantra can vary significantly in their practices.
Due to the focus on opposing polarities many believe that the opposite sexes are needed for Tantra and gay tantra is impossible. However in traditions which focus on the Kundalini model of energy flows this is not the case. In Tantra using Kundalini the rising energy is viewed as being the same in all persons, whatever their sexual persuasion or gender. Other traditions use visualization to solve the problem in gay Tantra. One of the partners assumes a role and visualizes themselves as being of the opposite gender and the partners use their minds to direct the energy. In Buddhist Tantra human sexual experience is beyond sexual preferences which are seen as a part of the personality.
SkyDancer Tantra is the most widely practiced technique in gay tantra. It is a relatively new system having been developed in the eighties by Margot Anand Naslednikoy. It was developed in France and quickly spread through the western hemisphere. She based the method on the concept of love as a dance in the sky. It was developed from the ideas of Buddhist Tantra and the name comes from one of the founders of that tradition called Big SkyDancer.
Most tantric practice involves meditation. Breathing is a vital part of the process with techniques involving alternating breaths between partners. Visualization is another common method which has many aspects. It is possible to visualize deities or other magical powers or processes between the two bodies such as movement of energy. Yoga is used to maintain positions and for its meditative properties and focus on breathing.
Tantric massage is another prevalent way to apply tantra. It is not intended to bring about climax but to release blockages of energy in the body. The masseuse builds up sexual energy in the body and then uses that to unblock the necessary areas.
For those who want to learn more about gay tantra there are many retreats, workshops and gurus available. It is easy to find details of these online. Increasing numbers of same sex couples and single gay people are starting to practice gay tantra. There are a range of methods but the main aim is personal development.

Gay Holidays: Packages In Morocco
March 24, 2010 by Howie Holben

Morocco is a country steeped in myths and legend and offers gay travel opportunities to experience a rich history and culture that continues to strongly influence daily life. Morocco offers visitors the chance to cross the desert atop a camel, sleep in a hotel made of sand and haggle with aggressive spice and rug traders in marketplaces that look and feel like they are from another time in history. In many towns and cities former homes have been transformed into guest lodgings, called riads, that often offer a more welcoming atmosphere for travelers on a gay vacation and provide the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and daily life of Morocco. While there is no visible scene in this conservative Muslim country, there are still abundant reasons for Morocco to be part of your gay travel plans, including ancient ruins and architecture, exceptional beaches, desert landscapes that stretch as far as the eye can see and open air souks (markets) that wind through village streets offering exotic wares.
Any travel experience in Morocco must include exploring the distinct quarters of the Fes medina, taking in the art deco architecture of Casablanca, breathing in the ocean air while watching a spectacular sunrise or sunset in Tangier, and visiting the Dar Si Said Museum in Marrakech. With breathtaking Muslim mosques, snake charmers, street performers, ancient Roman ruins and so much more, a vacation to Morocco gives travelers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the colors, sounds, sights and smells of this unique country.
American and European socialites, writers and composers involved in the jet set scene once flocked to Morocco as a preferred gay vacation destination; however, while Morocco was once known as a liberal playground welcoming gay men and lesbians from around the world for vacations, a push by recent Muslim leadership to move the country back towards the strict moral code of Islam has caused this welcoming atmosphere to change. Although the law is not commonly enforced, homosexuality was deemed a criminal offence in 1962 and remains so today. Same-sex conduct is punishable by fines and between six months to three years in prison.
In a 2009 statement, the Moroccan government asserted that homosexuality will not be tolerated and will be repressed, which means there may be an increase in enforcement and travelers should be particularly aware of their surroundings when in public. Laws and attitudes such as this are common in countries that are primarily Muslim and do not necessarily indicate that Morocco should be avoided when partaking in gay travel.
However it does mean that caution and discretion are advised while visiting this conservative country and that travelers may want to consider visiting Morocco as part of organized gay tours or working with a gay holidays agency that is knowledgeable about the safest locations and lodgings for Morocco vacations.

Gay Guides For Ecuador

Although a small country, Ecuador boasts a wide array of geographic and cultural diversity, including a variety of indigenous groups with distinctive cultures and languages. From snow-capped volcanoes and rainforests to tropical shorelines, Ecuador has varying landscapes and climates, making it wonderful for gay travel or exciting adventures a great idea any time of the year.
The Galapagos Islands are often the main reason visitors come to Ecuador, but the mainland also has numerous sightseeing opportunities and activities that make Ecuador gay tours memorable and fulfilling. Whether you are seeking an adventurous outdoor vacation, a spiritual retreat or gay travel that includes experiencing Quito’s LGBT community, relaxing on the beach and exploring tropical rainforests, you are sure to find that Ecuador is a beautiful, interesting, diverse country. As soon as you take your first step off of the airplane, it will be easy to see why Ecuador is such a highly popular travel destination.
Quito is unquestionably the center of LGBT life in Ecuador and has a growing community. La Mariscal is the neighborhood where you will find the most friendly establishments, including cafs, bars, clubs and a new community store called Rainbow Connection. There is a Pride celebration in June each year in the bohemian neighborhood of La Mariscal, and this is the place to see and be seen on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the year.
Sitting 9,200 feet above sea level and with the 13,000-foot volcano, Pichincha, nearby, Quito can be – quite literally – a breathtaking city when you first arrive, but you are sure to acclimate soon after arrival. Many streets are lined with shops, cafs and art galleries, and the historic center of town has been dubbed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, increasing the appeal of this diverse city. Major attractions include the Centro de Arte Contemporaneo, the Museo de la Ciudad, the Capilla del Hombre Guayasamin and the Parque el Ejido, which is lined with open-air stalls with handicrafts for sale.
Legal rights have expanded over the last decade or so, which has made gay tours to Ecuador more enjoyable; however, there is still a strong air of machismo and public discretion is advised in most areas. One way to increase security and ensure that gay vacations to Ecuador are safe and fun is to participate in gay tours organized by travel professionals well-versed in arranging community excursions and ensuring that visitors experience all of Ecuador’s glory with minimal concerns.
This will allow you to relax and get the most out of your journey, while professional travel organizers take care of the logistics and ensure that you will have the chance to experience the many historic, cultural and natural attractions that Ecuador offers.

It Simply Costs More For Gay Couples
March 16, 2010 by Howie Holben
Since everyone is so worked up regarding why gay couples want the same rights as heterosexual couples, it might be prudent to document how gay households are charged more but provided less. This really isn’t about arguing whether or not you agree with same sex marriages or you are part of an anti-gay group. It’s really about outlining the reasons for desiring protection.
There is no doubt that gay couples pay more in taxes when compared to the same income bracket hetero households. Without the ability to apply the usual benefits that married couples can apply, that het households with children can apply, and the basic filing options provided, taxes are simply a higher expense. Most couples end up paying about three quarters and change more than their straight counterparts.
Health insurance is the next big hitter. Many employers still do not health insurance to the partners’ of gay employees. Even for companies that do offer coverage, the money is taxable income. Heterosexual couples have the benefit of using pre-taxed dollars. The cost of health care when one partner is not insured comes out of the family’s household but can not be claimed adequately on taxes if it was paid for by the healthy partner.
Most couples in the family that either own property together or they have children together are likely to need legal counsel and representation. Everything from their intentions to their monetary assets must be documented and legally regulated in order to make sure that family heirlooms to children stay within the immediate family. Some gay couples find that even with their legal documentation, they have nothing backing them up.
Naturally, the expenses associated with having children are significantly higher than it is for most hetero couples. Sure, the argument about how we shouldn’t have children could interjected, but this isn’t about right or wrong. This is just a factual account of modern same sex couple-hood. Just getting pregnant can run higher than $75,000 for the average couple who doesn’t conceive within the first six months.
After a lifetime together of supporting each other and figuring out those tax returns, a domestic partner receives no death benefit from the government and can be denied access to life insurance policies and death benefits held by the deceased’s employer.
Non biological parents of children can easily be held accountable for a medical bill while simultaneously be withheld from making medical decisions for the child. If there is no second parent adoption available in the state of residence, then the non-biological parent can find that while they may pay directly or indirectly for care, they aren’t entitled to simple decisions. The reverse is true with adult children trying to make medical decisions for their non biological parent.
Yes, there are many ways that we can be told to live differently if we don’t like it. We all know the answer to that. However, when it comes down to everything from opposition to same sex benefits to opposition to same sex marriages, it’s not a bad idea to put it in black and white how gay couples pay more for living than het couples do.

Rafting Adventure For Gay Men – The Grand Canyon
March 15, 2010 by Howie Holben
Gay Grand Canyon tours are for those who live life to the fullest and who want an awesome adventure that they will never forget. It is once in a lifetime opportunity that you should take if you want to see the beauty of the Grand Canyon in its entirety.
By the time we reached our first destination, the Grand Canyon, our butts were sore and our eyes burned from being awake for so long in one day. We stopped off in Page, Arizona for a slight breather before continuing on to the Canyon. Let me be the one to say, it was a breath taking sight to see.
Kali Gandaki in Nepal is deeper, while Capertu Valley in Australia is about 1 km. Longer. Nearly 5 million people go to visit the canyon per year which is why they now have enforced a law that requires anyone who has traveled down the river within a single year may only do it once. If you wish to go again, the traveler must wait an entire year before going again.
When the morning came we had decided to take a raft ride down the Colorado river, which was the fastest way for us to see as much of the canyon as we could while still staying on schedule. It was beautiful. I don’t think I have ever seen a more wondrous sight than going through the canyon by boat. The ride was peaceful and serene. But freezing.
I can’t remember being so cold out in the sunlight. We drifted lazily down the river watching the wildlife passing by. To our amazement we had caught a glimpse of a Bald Eagle which according to our guide was a rare sight to see.
There are signs posted that show a well fit man walking into the canyon. The sign reads: Each year we rescue hundreds of people from the canyon. Most of them look like him. Or for the more extreme traveler there are rafting trips that will take you on a 17 day rafting adventure through some of the wildest white waters in the United States. – Although one can go for the 2 hour rafting trip which is the one I took.
Gay rafting, with such stunning views and wild life to see, no wonder why the Pueblo people considered the canyon a holy site and made pilgrimages to it for clarity on spirit walks. Many of these ‘walks’ have left their mark on the faces of the canyon. I know that when I went in 2001 I missed a lot of cool things to see.
If I had the money I would do the full adventure down the Colorado River. I would experience first hand the rapids and absorb all that nature throws at me. Even though the Grand Canyon is a national park it has had problems with air pollution the problem has been partly resolved. But the effects of man’s presence in the canyon makes me wonder just what it looked like so long ago and what it will look like should man continue to be destructive. This is one sight I would hate to see blocked because of pollution factors. So lets keep it clean. Try to respect the land. After all it took mother nature 17 million years to create it.
Score about gay Grand Canyon rafting. Spirit Journeys does unique gay Grand Canyon in 2010. Column authored by Howie Holben.
