If you were one of those people this year to vow to lose weight in 2009, you are not alone. Many people made it their New Year’s Resolution to lose weight and get in shape. The problem and the reason most people don’t stick to their resolution is that they are misinformed, uninformed and have no plan of action. The following consists of information about several diets that may or may not work for you. It’s a great place to start getting information so that you can get started losing weight the right way: informed.
1. The Medifast Diet Plan. Medifast allows you to choose five small meals daily from 60 choices including delicious soups, stew, chili, shakes, drinks, desserts, and snacks. Many are even suitable for vegetarians. You will also get one Lean Green Meal per day. This consists of 5-7 ounces of lean meat and a salad or choice of three vegetable servings on the side. Medifast meals are delivered right to your door for utmost convenience.
2. South Beach Diet. The South Beach Diet may be the diet for you if you do not want to give up your precious carbohydrates. It helps you decipher between good carbs and bad carbs, allowing you to eat great and lose weight at the same time.
3. Atkins Diet. The Atkins diet cuts carbohydrates from your diet and encourages you to eat a variety of lean proteins, leafy greens, vegetables, whole grains, fruits, and nuts. You can even have Atkins bars and shakes for snacks to help you get through the day. Since red meat and dairy products are allowed on this diet, it is perfect for people who dont want to give up their steak and butter.
4. The Oprah Diet. This is also known as Bob Greenes Best Life Diet. Its actually not a diet at all; it is a lifestyle change that includes healthy eating and regular physical activity. There is no calorie counting, simply making smart food choices, and watching portion size. Rather than immediately depriving yourself of your favorite junk foods, they are slowly phased out of your diet and replaced with healthy alternatives.
5. Master Cleanse. The Master Cleanse is probably the hardest of the diets, though it really isn’t a diet. It is a cleanse meant to rid the body of unwanted toxins and waste. You can stay on the diet anywhere between 10-45 days, depending on your personal stamina. It requires that you drink lemonade made from fresh lemons, maple syrup, water, and cayenne pepper. This diet is not for the faint of heart and may be difficult to stay on. But if you want to lose a quick 10 -15 pounds, it may be the diet for you.
6. Add water to your diet. We all know that water is a healthier alternative to soda or other sugary drinks, but did you also know that it helps curb your hunger? Drinking a full glass of water before you eat will help fill you up so that you eat smaller portions. If you find yourself eating out of boredom, carry a water bottle with you instead of snacks. The extra water will keep you from becoming dehydrated and lethargic.
Whichever the diet you choose, know that choosing to eat better is a choice for a better life. Eating properly is a lifestyle and will improve the quality and possibly the length of your life. Try to be informed about any diet that you try and also talk to your doctor if you have any concerns. If you ever fall off of a diet or slip up, don’t worry, keep going.
